You know, up until now my standard of idiotic academics was a academic paper my wife was assigned to critique, analyzing how Shakespeare’s Othello is really a story about jealousy due to Lago and Othello’s repressed homosexual love for each other. But these folks take that level of nonsense to a level I never thought would fill a academic conference.

I’ve seen more intellectual depth and vigor in SF cons listening to hall arguments Trekies (who brag about their tolerance and love of diversity) nearly coming to blows arguing over Which Captain in the various series is the best.
