Leonard Nimoy, 1931-2015
“I am what I am, Leila,” Mr. Spock declares after the spores’ effect has worn off and his emotions are again in check. “And if there are self-made purgatories, then we all have to live in them. Mine can be no worse than someone else’s.”
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Sad day for fandom.
If Nimoy had lived another year, he would have achieved an unsurpassed milestone. If he had appeared in the next Star Trek movie, which is due for release next year, he would be as far as I know the only person to have played the same character in TV and film for 50 years. As it was, the original Spock lasted 47 years. I think even Clint would be impressed
Nothing makes me feel old as much as when a favorite actor of mine, that I grew up watching on television, die of an age related disease. James Garner and DeForest Kelly a few years ago and now Leonard Nimoy. How did we all get so old?
“It is time.”
Spock
“Mirror, Mirror”
He is reunited with Bones and Scottie.
Help put sci-fi where no Man has gone before.
The final scene of that episode is probably my favorite scene of the entire Star Trek collection.
It is worth considering:
