I wonder how much we offered the little dictator this time around?
A few million tons of food and cash to pay for its dispersal to his people?
Or an all expense paid trip to Disney Land?
It looks like our media freak out a few weeks back was misguided but at least we showed them they are not the only ones who can do propaganda.
So, serious question here..
Suppose a group of freedom loving Americans decided to load up their own private planes, boats, helicopters and guns to go invade North Korea. Suppose they were somewhat successful.
How would the media report it? How would the American people feel about it? How would the US government respond?
Its against US law.
How does that help me answer any of those three questions?
As soon as the US government heard about it they would arrest all involved.

If the action started before the US government could stop them they would be branded international outlaws and hunted down by any nation who wanted to prosecute them or send them back to us.
Even if they were never caught they would never be allowed back into the US and any funds still in the US would be confiscated.
The media would not report it because it would be an active war zone with no real reason to go in to it. Like one of the many African wars going on now. The US media does not care. You better give them a real reason to want to care, like Tom Hanks is leading the charge and Bill Gates is funding the assault.
Seriously dude. You would need about 5 million well solders to do it. And exactly what island could support that many waiting for the invasion day? It not like Tom and Bill could stage them in Japan without Japan noticing.

Obviously someone doesn’t understand what even a third rate army or military could do versus civilians with standard weapons. Artillery, tanks, helicopters would decimate any civilian force who thought about using commercially available arms. Not even mentioning military training.
Who said they had standard weapons.. or didn’t have military training?
When evaluating a hypothetical you’re obliged to be charitable with the question. Heck, for all we know, half the NK military could join the invaders.
Now, assuming a respectable fighting force and a sensible attack plan, how do you think the US press, the US people and the US government would respond?

Reading back I did come off a bit heavy handed and aggressive. Short and well, exactly like a butt head.
So again, Sorry about that.
I have discussed this and other similar situations in other places and you just reminded me of some of the bad threads there.
This US Government would do nothing but talk about crossing some line and then ignoring it when the attackers do cross it.
But because of the indoctrination and propaganda inside of NK I don’t think their army would even switch sides and the civilians would at best just hide and do nothing for or against anyone.
The civilians have just lost way to may friends and family to this dictatorship.
The ONLY way they might come around and work against their own government would be if they were fed more than one meal a day and even them it would take months for them to start to believe that their old government would NEVER come back and kill them.
They are not just afraid of their Dear Leader but every government official all the way down to the local police and street sweepers. They also fear their very own neighbors just as much. They would NEVER join an insurrection or uprising against them.
The people there have been indoctrinated for hundreds of years to just shut up and follow the rules of their leaders. To follow the dictates of those with weapons.
Revolution is the last thing on their mind. They can’t even read about revolution let alone think about how to have one.
The only hope the NK have is the SK invade and China stays out of it. They will have people that look like them trying to help them. Heck some might even remember their old friends and relatives. It will take a long time for them to trust and believe the SK ‘propaganda’ and teachings.So I wouldn’t trust a peace until a few years pass with no trouble.
