Obama administration: No new drilling permits, but we’ll tap into our oil reserve
Does this seem as crazy to you as it does to me? At the same time the Obama administration is fighting to prevent any new drilling for oil, it is also now considering tapping our strategic oil reserve to get more oil into the market.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

They need to dump oil on the market to quiet folks demands to expand drilling. If the gasoling prices go up to high, folks will force congress to force through expanding US opil production. Doing that would greatly lower prices, adn lower fears of the US runing out of oil. Obama needs those fears and costs (at least as high as now – though he said long term he wants far higher gasoline prices) to push through his green energy changes.
Given the high economic costs, and impacts to the US economy and competativness, unless there a oil disaster – he’ld never get the political leverage for his green initiatives. So a internation disaster forcing us to tap and drain the reseves works for him. It drains our reserves and he still avoids suply increases.
