Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. I keep the website clean from pop-ups and annoying demands. Instead, I depend entirely on my readers to support me. Though this means I am sacrificing some income, it also means that I remain entirely independent from outside pressure. By depending solely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, no one can threaten me with censorship. You don't like what I write, you can simply go elsewhere.

You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are five ways of doing so:

Only some in the Muslim world condemn ISIS

The Islamic world’s reaction to the ISIS persecution of non-Muslims is decidedly mixed.

This sentence from the link sums the situation up nicely:

At the same time that Islamic religious leaders are mostly silent on the genocide, Islamic political leaders have spoken out.

It appears that Islamic political leaders have generally been forthright in condemning ISIS’s actions, something that we should take heart from. Islam’s religious leaders however have taken a more partisan stand, worrying that ISIS’s actions might harm Islam and thus condemning it for that reason. That Christians and other non-Muslims might be murdered however does not seem to be a concern for these Islamic religious leaders.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

People in Arabic countries have no confidence in their political leaders, who all want moderate islam. It was a big mistake to get rid of Saddam Hussein. And starting a third invasion in Iraq now will only make things worse. Best thing to do now is to let the pre-ww1 Ottoman empire be resurrected as a united islamic state. Iraq has never been a nation state, it has been an occupied territory with random borders for 100 years now.

We in the west keep calling for the moderate islamists to rise up and argue against the Jihadis and terrorists. I’m getting the feeling thats as futile as calling for the moderate Germans before WW-II to rise up and throw out the democratically elected Nazi’s.

    :(

Mark Twian ones said history never repeats itself, but it often rhymes. Can’t say I’m fond of this tune.

  • Simmer.. I didn’t see single right wing christian , or Jewish Condom to Israel persecution of Palestinian civilians.ancient

Or how about the Original million moslem march on Washington
    To protest Radical Islam……
    350 reporters, photogs, and producers…..
    56 Moslems…….
Fair numbers. Radicals too moderate islamists!

One sect of Islam is not allowed to speak against another sect of Islam.

It is for Allah to make that decision not us.

They are also told by the Koran not to believe anyone who speaks against Islam or a sect of Islam and uses the words of the Book against them.
So even if you find arguments and contradictions in the Book they will NEVER listen.

The writers of the book wanted to make sure that only the strong and aggressive survived and no one would be able to speak against their written words.

Allah is all seeing, all knowing and truly wise. He would never need to place those safeguards into the Book knowing that those who truly believe would never doubt their faith in him.
He would know that simple discussions and debates would NEVER lessen the strength of his words.
Allah would also know that the strength of his words would be all that is needed to expand the numbers of his faithful and that the use of force or arms would never be needed.

Allah spoke truth and Mohammad might have received those words in full and true form but those who wrote them down a hundred years later could have been wrong.
Or could have been adding things never intended, or left out much of what Allah said.

If Islam can never have an internal discussion about itself then its a dead end religion unable to change with time and society.

Any faith or mindset refusing even to consider admitting internal debates exist, has a nasty short future ahead of it.
