Trump to meet with North Korean leader

President Trump has accepted an offer by North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong-Un to meet face-to-face sometime in the next few months to discuss that nation’s nuclear weaponry.

The historic meeting was brokered by the South Korean government, which delivered the invitation to the White House and divulged the details outside the West Wing. “He expressed his eagerness to meet President Trump as soon as possible,” South Korean National Security Director Chung Eui-yong said of Kim. “President Trump appreciated the briefing and said he would meet Kim Jong-Un by May to achieve permanent denuclearization.”

According to Chung, the North also agreed to suspend nuclear and missile tests during such future talks — a longstanding US demand.

There is progress here, but everyone should not assume much will come of this. The last time an American president, Bill Clinton, made a deal with North Korea, it was supposed to have ended North Korea’s nuclear weapons program. That certainly didn’t work, and Trump could be double-crossed just as easily.

Nonetheless, Trump appears to be having more success forcing North Korea to the table than anyone in decades.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

ps , sorry for the shout,
ALL these deep problems we, mankind, face are rooted in psychotic inferior cultures that must never be allowed to rule.
I always am suspicious of “good news”, it’s code for, “This aint gonna hurt me a bit , but it’s damn sure gonna you.

Did you see Trump’s comment on this at the Gridiron Dinner?

“I won’t rule out direct talks with Kim Jong Un. I just won’t. As far as the risk of dealing with a madman is concerned, that’s his problem, not mine.”

Hahahahahahaha! Perfect! Self deprecating, but mocking all at the same time, in one short sentence.

Only Nixon can go to China.

From Kim Jung Un’s point of view he is probably attempting to play Trump just to have the now painful sanctions dialed back or removed. Just like the North Koreans have played all other American presidents.

Trump IMO will increase the sanctions before his meeting and continue to ratchet them up (If there is indeed a meeting, I have my doubts given this Trump strategy I imagine) and will not consider relaxing anything until the nukes and the related infrastructure are actually gone. Good luck to all, manipulative mountain meets manipulative mountain.

And we of course have to figure in China’s world domination aspirations and their keeping the U.S. busy putting out fires while they fulfill their agenda.

    Let us not be naive.

And if Trump is able to actually pull this all off at the level described above then he will certainly be reelected and be on target to be in that top five U.S. presidents.

Trump arriving at his savant executive control comfortability level with his presidency may spell crazy and un calculable potential for the country never seen or even imagined before in the political world and the country proper.

    https://www.mediaite.com/online/trump-has-reportedly-told-people-hes-going-to-follow-his-own-instincts-more/

This has the potential to be so disruptive of the known and so counted upon tools of control and guaranteed corruption that Government bureaucracy relies on to feed itself that it may be in their interests to sabotage Trump at every turn. Like that has not been going on to date, but it appears that eventually Trump will shake it off in time as he learns and adapts and gets more and more settled in and sets his counter measures to the threats to his presidency and common sense will for the country.

Also, as Trump ramps up this what really has the potential to be a new paradigm in politics, economics and international relations that both Putin and Xi may have to recalculate their short and long term plans in major ways in order to stand in its way.

Just some outside of the box Nostradomus like thinking as Trump begins to get comfortable and make his Trump like Trumpian moves. A double edged sword depending on where you are seated, real change which happens and turns on a dime is very scary and at this level can be both freeing and the cause of war (?) when those changes are too threatening to the status quo world powers / Globalists that be? (I scratcheth my head)

Common sense and its real world application by someone with the real power to enforce it is terrifying to at least half of the voting public I.E. Democrats, for a while anyway. If Trump is able to apply self control and naturally out smart rather than feel the need to destroy his enemy’s, like many would naturally tend to do, then all will be OK.

Lets just be optimistic at this point in time on this particular subject for the moment.

Just some thoughts as Trump settles in.

What if Trump offered him a mobsters retirement?

leave with all the cash you can take, your family and the rest of the world will forget about you and your crimes. How about a new name, ID and a bullion in bonus cash?

    If not……..

In the end their will be a change in leadership for SK.

Make the same kind of offer to all his generals and other leaders.

I am willing to pay a few billion for a quick and quiet change. South Korea can step in and rule until a vote to reunify is made.

  • Cotour

I think that China and Russia would have something to say about that.

It may work in the movies but not here. What you propose is that America, for a couple of billion dollars, walks into N Korea and owns it. Looking at it from that point of view, how likely is that? N. Korea is a valuable international tool and valuable real estate.

  • pzatchok

Instead of a begger state China Dn Russia could view it as a chance to have an economic power on thier boarder.
South Korea will be the only people moving into North Korea. unless China and Russia want to contribute to the humanitarian effort.

Wouldn’t it be nice for the US to longer have a reason to be in Korea?

Many leaders have been removed from power to live out their lives someplace else.
    Manuel Norierga for one.

Trump could just make a better offer than trials and jail for crimes against humanity.

    Now this is significant:

    https://apnews.com/1fdd610f9ef84af79243faa5c284a7a3/Kim,-Xi-portray-strong-ties-after-NKorea-leader%27s-China-trip

Xi and Un meeting before the Trump, Un meeting happens. North Korea leadership want to fully understand how far they can go in attempting to manipulate the American leadership (Trump). What WILL and what will the Chinese NOT do to maintain their position here? Its an interesting question knowing what the Chinese are attempting to drive towards.

China has world domination plans and North Korea is a tool of world disruption for the Chinese, what are the Chinese incentives here? Tell the North Koreans to surrender their nukes and the infrastructure that produces it for what ever substantive offerings president trump makes OR just lead him on to see how far he is willing to go?

This is where the rubber meets the road, and we have arrived here of course because of all of the masterful leadership in international relations of the last 4 presidents, G.H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, G.W.Bush and of course the masterful lead up to this great potential to normalizing North Korea by the genius in international strategy and the highest degree of American interests in the world, Barack Hussein Obama.

(After you stop laughing we all know that none of that is so, it is only happening because of the leadership of president Trump. Good, bad or otherwise)
