Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. I keep the website clean from pop-ups and annoying demands. Instead, I depend entirely on my readers to support me. Though this means I am sacrificing some income, it also means that I remain entirely independent from outside pressure. By depending solely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, no one can threaten me with censorship. You don't like what I write, you can simply go elsewhere.

You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.

3. A Paypal Donation:

4. A Paypal subscription:

5. Donate by check, payable to Robert Zimmerman and mailed to

The Lion Roars

An evening pause: A very short pause, but one that I think is appropriate today with the success of the grassroots tea party movement in forcing John Boehner out as House Speaker.

Hat tip Diane Zimmerman.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

    Sorry Robert-

I’m not nearly as optimistic that this will do anything to minimize the damage that Obama has already done (with John Boehner’s help.)

The damage is wide and deep. I hope it isn’t a fatal wound for this republic.

    Truly awwww-inspiring. Again, a thank-you to Diane!

  • Boehner’s resignation is a step in the right direction. He lacks a spine. What happens in the long run probably depends on how many other Republicans in Congress possess one. My dream candidate for Boehner’s replacement would be Rep. Louie Gomert.

Everyone seems relieved that Boehner is resigning his position. I confess, I also have a sense of hope.
We all know that everything in politics is choreographed for the maximum outcome or a convincing misdirection. “Let no crisis go to waste”. If he is leaving it is to produce the proper atmosphere and conditions for what is to come. They have been saving him for this moment. Most likely, to put a RINO somebody in that is worse to take advantage of a confusing Power turnover during the infighting.
How many times has the scorpion stung us when he promised he would not if we helped. ( parable of the frog and the scorpion ) they truly don’t mean to destroy us, it is just their nature to do so. That just can’t be helped.
It’s not that power corrupts, so much as power attracts the corruptible. With trillions of dollars at stake in the largest economy of the world, nothing is left to chance. They will do what they do regardless of promises made, for it is their nature.

There is one recent event I am very happy to see. The religion of global warming now has a pope and is firmly established as a faith-based science. The pope was installed by a consensus of Cardinals. Once the white smoke went up the chimney, they were all in agreement. God has spoken. It is only fitting that he would recognize a consensus of scientists in the same manner as being the final authority. Religious faith without doubt is his domain. Who better to lead the charge on that imaginary enemy of human caused climate change? He needs no real cause-and-effect science to back up his words.
Millions of Catholics just found out that they are now “green socialist” and will soon be expected to be activists…

A tiny lion “roars” and becomes a symbol for a supposed rising force in American politics, a tool of a speaker steps down and more than likely is just making room for a new tool, a Pope reveals his One World Agenda and works in concert to shape a message to the masses along with a Marxist based American president, and this guy records something unusual in the sky over New Hamshire that apparently can only be seen in the Infrared by a CCD chip.

What does it all mean? We live in one crazy assed world where we assume logic and reason and the forces of “right” would prevail, but it does not and in fact is quite the reverse much of the time.

And we somehow continue to move into the future.

That lion is just TOO cute.

    Hows this for strange stuff:
    http://www.glennbeck.com/2015/05/18/some-people-are-saying-these-trumpets-are-a-sign-of-the-end-times/

I think it sounds like a train going around a curve at slow speed

I remember where I have heard that sound before:

    https://youtu.be/rYGWG2_PB_Q

What ever that sound is (and I have no idea where it is coming from or what might be making it) you have to admit that there are some very strange and counter intuitive things going on in our government and in the world in general. They probably have always been there but the massive ability to now record both sound and video at a seconds notice and share it in the next second with a significant portion of the population through the internet makes it much more concerning.

And of course along with that goes not being able to in many instances reliably distinguish between what is information and what is disinformation or a hoax. Or maybe as the human race gets closer to being able to detect and observe the outer limits of what we thought was “normal” reality and share it reality tends to change because we are observing what we were never were able to observe before.

That’s hurting my brain, I will stop now.
