Thousands of scientists and doctors condemn COVID-19 panic
Censensus! Since May literally thousands of scientists and doctors, including a Nobel Prize winner, have publicly condemned the heavy-handed lockdowns and restrictions on freedom imposed by governments because of its panic over COVID-19.
The article provides details. It is very clear that a very large number of scientists are appalled by the over-reach by government health officials that has led to the shut downs and the requirements for mask use. (Obviously these scientists are all white supremacists and racists, and should be cancelled immediately!)
The article also led me to this research from Oxford University, which concluded in April that the death rate from the Wuhan virus is just about the same as the flu:
Taking account of historical experience, trends in the data, increased number of infections in the population at largest, and potential impact of misclassification of deaths gives a presumed estimate for the COVID-19 IFR somewhere between 0.1% and 0.41%.
The website states that they update regularly when new data arrives, but it appears that since April nothing has caused them to revise this conclusion. The first link above also notes that Dr. Anthony Fauci of the CDC agreed with this conclusion in a peer-reviewed March article for the New England Journal of Medicine. (Obviously Oxford and Fauci are white supremacists and racists also, and should be silenced forthwith!)
We should stop this madness and go back to normal. Our government has failed us so completely in its response to COVID-19 it should be fired completely. And that includes every single one of the health officials who pushed for lockdowns, mask rules, and social distancing.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

While I empathize with your feelings I do not agree completely. The wave of hospitalizations and deaths in the beginning (Italy and Spain especially) were not fictional. They really happened because it IS a new and incredibly contagious virus.
But we have learned a lot since then, especially that contrary to most respiratory viruses CCP-19 is virtually no risk to the young and only a serious risk to the old and those with serious co-morbidities. So after flattening the curve we should have quickly moved on to good hygiene and social quarantining of only the most vulnerable. You can debate the definition of quickly, but 6-8 weeks as we were originally told was reasonable, 4 months going on permanent is decidedly not.
The big problem to me, restating my initial objection which I voiced here previously and which still has received virtually no attention, is that we granted our elected leaders these dictatorial powers with no grounding in law other than their self-proclaimed and conveniently vague “emergency power authority” for dealing with a “health” crisis.
We accepted this given the coarse of world events and obvious uncertainty. However it is well past time to call them on this, and criminal (imho) for them to continue. Yet no one, elected or among the citizenry, is seriously raising hell over this and trying to force congress and our legislatures into emergency sessions to close this Rule Set Gap.
This is now our biggest problem because we are letting them do this, and they are making it the new normal. This is America GDit, so let the lawsuits fly!!! We are a nation of laws and should refuse at accept lawless tyranny.
From the real world:
Just spoke to a nurse that runs three floors in a major NYC hospital, two neuro surgery and one of them is ICU.
I asked her: “How is everything in your hospital?”
“Everything is pretty much normal, I have only two Covid patients in ICU now.”
And she added that its sad that there have been many people that had not come to the hospital when they needed to because of the fear of the virus that needed brain surgery specifically that are in much worse condition because of it.
There is a real world cost to the atmosphere of fear that has been fostered in America related to the virus. None of this is ideal nor good nor bad, it just is what it is based on the decisions that people had to make given the information that they had (Or thought they had). Fear is a great motivator.
