Brings to mind Peter Jackson’s remake of King Kong.
A big budget with modern effects but ultimately a pale copy of the original.
Best to do a radical reinterpretation than try to imitate perfection (that’s why I can enjoy the 70’s kitchy Kong remake).
Krall’s version is Musak (and plinking on the piano is a substitute for the sultry Stan Getz style sax bridge?).

Yeah, it wouldn’t be the ’60’s without Burt Bacharach. All the great Dionne Warwick songs etc.
