He admits he thought he was doing the right thing not punishing Hillary, he’s learned his lesson.

So I am okay with satisfice, given that actual satisfaction seems precluded by the laws of both man and physics. The destruction of all, or at least the worst, of the edifice of tyranny and corruption the Democrats and other leftists have built over the past century-plus will do, adequately, in place of notional bodies dangling from gibbets. The Trump administration appears to be doing yeoman work toward this end with rogue elements of the judiciary who tried to block this initially now pretty much steamrollered flat by SCOTUS. May it continue for the remainder of the Trump administration and beyond.

In addition, either the Democrats have to return to The American Way, or they have to go the way of the Federalist Party. America cannot survive with the way the Democrats are now. Just look at California*, New York City, and Detroit**, among other American examples of Democrat disaster areas.

Edward, they see this as the normal order of things, for they view themselves as a Righteous Normal. In their thinking, all dissent from their One True Way can only be the result of ignorance or evil – and therefore dissenters deserve no respect; they are an Evil Other whose suppression by the Righteous Normal is “justified” to preserve their social order.

Of course they thought that they could get away with their hoax. Obama told his followers to punish the Democrats’ enemies and reward their friends, and starting in 2010 he got the expected stochastic favoritism from several Democrat-leaning government employees. There was barely any consequence for any government official who favored Democrats and punished non-Democrats, and never a reported scandal. Obama was even able to proclaim his own administration scandal-free, because the press barely covered the biased actions of government officials or employees. Rather than be neutral, as required by the Hatch Act, for fifteen years governments throughout America choose sides in politics — and always the Democrats’ side.

Government entities that have taken sides in American politics:
IRS: Lois Lerner, et al, refusing tax-free status for certain groups, based upon suspected political leanings;
FBI: Using political opposition dossier as an excuse to spy on a political opponent. Entrapping innocent people into pondering kidnapping the Michigan Governor. Investigating parents as terrorists at school board meetings. Michael Flynning General Michael Flynn. Warning news media and social media that any suspicion of Hunter Biden is untrue despite knowing that it was true.
DOJ (Department of (In)Justice): Selectively prosecuting Republicans and not Democrats (e.g. prosecuting Trump for non-crimes yet not prosecuting Hillary Clinton despite listing multiple federal felonies).
Homeland Security: Telling social media and press what is “true” to report and what is false to stifle. Publicly abortive attempt to create a Disinformation Governance Board. (If there is Official Disinformation, there must necessarily exist Official Truths.)
National security agencies (all): spying on President Trump.
Marines: literally backing up Biden as he accuses Republicans of being fascists during Independence Hall speech with a NAZI-like red & black backdrop.
Congressional Police: Inviting Trump supporters into the Capitol Building for tours just so that the same police can then use them for target practice, then arresting the survivors for trespassing, parading, or other minor offenses that they didn’t do.
FAA, FCC, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (Department of Interior): Hampering SpaceX from testing Starship in order to punish the Democrats’ political foe, Elon Musk.
FEMA: Refusing to help people who show signs of belonging to the “wrong” political party.

The hoax may be what they have scandalous evidence for, but the Democrats have been doing this kind of thing for a decade and a half.

Worry about counter-revenge? Rather than prosecute Clinton for multiple serious national security felonies, as described by the FBI, Trump let her walk free, specifically for fear of counter-revenge after counter-revenge. But the Democrats went for the counter-revenge anyway, the Democrats committing injustices against Trump for revenges he never went after. The last two items in my list above are persecutions from two state governments for actions that Trump didn’t do. In one trial, the Judge told the jury that they could merely assume that Trump was guilty of any one of three crimes he was never convicted of, tried for, or even charged with. The Democrats went for impeachments for non-high crimes or non-misdemeanors but for the regular actions of a president — even the Democrats in the Senate had admitted that the House Democrats had sent an impeachment that lacked any evidence of wrongdoing and demanded a second investigation just so they could have some sort of evidence to hang on Trump.

No, we are already down the rabbit hole of counter-revenge, and it is all on the Democrats.

We the People are now looking for justice for Hatch Act crimes and other crimes committed by people in government. Letting them get away with employing the power and resources of government to punish one party’s enemies and favor the favorite party sets a precedence that we have already seen has led to a decade or more of the same.

Cotour: Your example here is a poor one. This is Tucson, my home ground. Grijalva is the daughter of the Democratic Party hack that represented Tucson for years before. Her victory in the primary was simply because of her name. She will follow all the same 20% policies that the Democrats now favor, across the board.

These hubris-filled individuals know no other way to live, other than the status quo that has been fed to them all their lives … and they really think that someone implementing an alternative will lead to the ruin of America. They fail to perceive, in their hubris, that we are already on the road to ruin because of their rule-of-the-few that unplugs most of the distributed intellect in our nation.

And … those who are part of the societal and/or political elites are all-in invested in their elite status – financially, professionally, politically, even in terms of reputation and their own self-esteem. They have built their ENTIRE lives around being perceived as the elite, for it is what gives them the acceptance they desire; that they are Smart/Nice/Important People™.

But the perceived value of their status depends upon their relevance to our lives … how much we need, and therefore defer to, them and their “superior” guidance. Hence the motivation to encourage its imposition as The One True Way in every area, through both social pressure and in some cases the coercive force of law.

Donald Trump, in word and in policy, dissents from that paradigm. His policies instead expand respect for and protection of individual liberty – including the liberty to stop being victim, take responsibility for our decision-making, and depart from that One True Way when it doesn’t work for us as individuals.

That erodes the perceived value of elite status in this society. Irrelevance has become a primal fear in their psyche.

These two reasons are why the elites were motivated to the point of collusion, to tear him down.

What saved us is simply the law, and freedom. These goons thought Mueller would be able to manufacture charges that could be used to get enough RINOS on board to remove Trump, and even put him in prison. The new alternative press made that impossible, combined with the realization that it was impossible to do such a thing and get our legal system to go along blindly.

Whether that legal system will administer justice to these thugs is not clear. I am not sure I want that. Better that we look forward, remove all the worst players from the government, and move on.
