As if on cue, the Democrats now go after Musk for daring to campaign for Trump
The target is now Elon Musk
When Elon Musk revealed in May 2022 that he had decided to switch his political allegiance from the Democratic to the Republican Party, he immediately predicted quite correctly the following: “Watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold.”
As I noted in detail a year ago, the federal campaign against Musk and his companies since then has been extensive and disgusting, with investigations opened by the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Transportation Department.
Nor has this harassment eased in the past year. If anything it has accelerated, with the red tape by the FAA slowing down operations at SpaceX to the point of absurdity.
Now, as the campaign season moves to its climax on election day and the polls increasingly show a major shift in the direction of a Trump win, barring any illegal vote tampering, we should not be surprised that the Democrats are now demanding that Elon Musk shut up, and are doing so by issuing new false accusations against him.
Leading the way was a Wall Street Journal report [behind a pay wall], picked up by all the usual suspects in the propaganda press, based solely on anonymous sources, that accused Musk of having private and secret phone conversations with Vladimir Putin, head of Russia. From this typical propaganda piece at NPR:
A person familiar with the situation, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive matter, confirmed to The Associated Press that Musk and Putin have had contact through calls. The person didn’t provide additional details about the frequency of the calls, when they occurred or their content.
My heart be still. The source couldn’t say when or how often the calls occurred, or even what they were about. Sure seems reliable information to me. Off with Elon’s head!
The response from SpaceX was blunt.
The Wall Street Journal published yet another incredibly misleading story about @Starlink
based upon completely unsubstantiated claims from unnamed sources.
SpaceX’s then noted its extensive help using Starlink to the Ukraine, against Russia. Reality tells us that these so-called unconfirmeed Musk-Putin conversations are not only unlikely, they would make no sense. And if they did happen, it would have certainly not been with the intent of Musk to betray the U.S. or the Ukraine. Note too that the Kremlin itself insists Musk has only talked to Putin once, “during which they discussed space and future technologies.”
In fact, this story fits the same pattern of many recent and typical leftwing media slanders against Republicans, from Supreme Court nominees to senate candidates to presidents. Based on an anonymous source who really doesn’t know much, the slander gets spread by the propaganda press as if it was the word from God, used to defame and discredit the victim. It is the same tactic as that classic journalist fake question, “So, Mister Candidate, when did you stop beating your wife?” You can deny it, but the very denial appears to condemn you.
In this case the propaganda press and the Democrats are carrying the attacks even farther. When asked about it on Meet the Press this weekend, Senator Bernie Sanders made it very clear where the Democrats now stand on free speech.
First news anchor Kristen Welker asked the question. Note how this anonymous story is now accepted by her as utter fact.
The Wall Street Journal reporting this week that Musk is, of course, a major government contractor, someone who has security clearance that gives him access to highly classified information, has been in regular contact with Vladimir Putin for the past two years. My question for you, is it appropriate for Elon Musk, a Trump supporter, to have these secret contacts with Vladimir Putin, and what, if anything, do you think the Biden administration can and should do about it?
As I noted, with our propaganda press, unconfirmed slanders of conservatives are always treated as fact, and used to further destroy them. The question was thus designed to allow Sanders to answer in exactly the right way.
No, I don’t think it’s appropriate. Look, Musk is a very smart, aggressive guy. He is the wealthiest person in the world. And what really interests me is, if, God forbid, Trump would win, whether it would be Elon Musk running the government and Trump working for him, or the other way around. But the idea that you have somebody like Musk who has massive amounts of federal contracts, campaigning hard, putting huge amounts of money into Trump’s campaign – man, if there’s ever been a conflict of interest, that’s it.
In other words, according to Sanders, Musk is not allowed his first amendment free speech rights because his companies have contracts with the government. However, we all know of course that Sanders would celebrate Musk’s campaigning entirely if it was for a Democrat. He would even consider phone calls to Putin totally appropriate, if it aids the goals of the Democrats and the communist left.
This typical Democratic Party slander campaign is now following its standard course. NASA administrator Bill Nelson has now joined the chorus, calling for an investigation of Musk. Similarly, Democrats in Congress are now demanding investigations (see here and here). Or as one of my commenters on Behind the Black noted yesterday,
The modern Democratic Party
You can almost picture Bernie Sanders kicking and hitting the floor yelling it’s not fair it’s not fair. Our new world order and economic forum will not tolerate this! How dare they reset the great reset? We control all media outlets, we tell them what and how to think, how dare they reject us?
And while we can make fun of these tinpot dictators, we must remember that tinpot dictators have through history ended up killing tens of millions of people. This is our future, should Kamala Harris win the election and the Democrats maintain some control of Congress. It is their intention to resume their aggressive blacklisting campaign begun in 2021, shortly after Biden took office, but do so now with even greater aggression. That campaign stalled because it violated numerous laws, beginning with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and has resulted in numerous successful lawsuits costing its advocates millions.
The goal should the Democrats win next week will be to make sure those laws no longer have force. As I have written numerous times, be warned. When someone tells you what they want to do, you really should believe them. Not only will Musk’s effort to colonize the solar system be stymied, the industries he has created will be destroyed, simply because he had the audacity to say he no longer supported the Democratic Party.
And that effort to smash a boot into Musk’s face will not end with Musk, but simply begin there.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

THE ENEMY IS WITHIN
“Who invited this what clearly appears to be a Democrat party plant that has synchronized his disparaging “Comedic” comments about Puerto Rico while on stage at the Trump MAGA rally in Madison Square Garden just one week before the most consequential presidential election in modern times? Especially as Trump makes tremendous inroads into the minority population.
Republicans ‘Disgusted’ by Tony Hinchcliffe’s Hateful Puerto Rico Remarks – Newsweek
And COINCIDENTLY Kamala Harris makes comments about rebuilding Puerto Rico the same day? Really? Looks coordinated and purposeful. How do you deny the Republicans winning New York City and State? ”

I HATE Democrats. They are truly scum. The lie and cheat to steal. While not space related, over at Ace of Spades HQ, there is an article about this Democrat Junta giving billions of dollars to a Democrat crony organizations for “climate change”. The Democrat Party is nothing more that a criminal enterprise. What they are doing to Elon Musk is just further proof of it.
As to the “Cheat” this election, I fully expect to see Trump far ahead of Harris until sometime in the wee morning hours when 10’s of thousands of votes will be magically added in minutes to Harris’s votes in places such as Fulton County, GA, Philadelphia, PA, Detroit MI and other Democrat enclaves in “swing” states. It will be obvious and blatant with the Democrats laughing. When challenged in courts, the courts will just toss the cases for “lack of standing”. I fear we will be in an (un)civil war in the near future.
The WSJ has been jonesing for Musk for a long time. I don’t understand why, but for at least a year they have been acting as though he ran over their cat or slept with their wives (the latter is actually possible).
Some of the liberals around me are all atwitter that Musk has just been found out to be an illegal alien. Oh, my! According to the word, he came from South Africa to the United States illegally. Next. I suppose, they will discover that he had smuggled conflict diamonds into the country, too (in case no one knew where he got his trillions of dollars of wealth).
Strange that Musk has been here all these weeks, but only now, just before his favored presidential candidate is about to win, only now it is discovered his illegal status. This is a bigger October Surprise than learning that Trump himself is a tyrannical fascist, convicted of 3,842 felonies.
BERNIE SANDERS: “But the idea that you have somebody like Musk who has massive amounts of federal contracts, campaigning hard, putting huge amounts of money into Trump’s campaign – man, if there’s ever been a conflict of interest, that’s it.”
Oh, the irony!
If those who perform work for government are to be politically muzzled, it is obviously time to silence the various teachers’ unions and all other unions or groups that do receive any compensation from any government, be it federal, state, or local.
The “anonymous sources” behind this latest bit of journalistic fiction are supposedly in the U.S. intelligence apparat. Surprise, surprise. One wonders only why they felt obliged to withhold their names this time. 51 of them felt sufficiently free, four years ago, to sign a flagrantly false declaration that Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation.” Perhaps they fear that a second consecutive Great Cheat will fail and that anyone with a connection to this latest bit of attempted election interference will be instantly fired and indicted on Jan. 20, 2025.
Russia, Russia, Russian rerun with the name changed to Musk. Wall Street Journal reporters are stenographers for the intelligence community.
Elon Musk has stated that one of the primary reasons for the exploration and settlement of Mars is to preserve humanity if some event destroys Earth. If Musk is speaking with Putin, I would guess he is attempting to persuade Putin not to use nuclear weapons and possibly propose a framework for peace between Russia and the West regarding Ukraine.

It’s reported that Musk has top secret, and he’s NOT an idiot. He knows the reporting requirements and legalities of any foreign contact. I’m sure knows about FISA too.
This election may come down to those who believe “A person familiar with the situation, who spoke on condition of anonymity” and those who access free speech.

Why wouldn’t Elon talk to the people that could make it easy for him to get his business into their nation?
All he has to do is report it to the required officials. ITAR rules and things like that.
I just can not believe they are attacking a true African American immigrant.
Elon Musk should play a ceremonial role in the cost management efforts of a Trump administration, or perhaps I should say an inspirational role, but not more than would keep him free of conflict-of-interest hamstrings, since he has multiple mega-businesses to guide, not counting the ones he hasn’t thought of yet!

Donald Trump Jr. in his Madison Square Garden speech encouraged people to vote saying “You line up like you’re the third monkey in line for the ark, and it’s starting to rain,” he was referring to this meme:

I think it is a great idea for Elon to talk to Putin. Talk about the UKR war. Get a sense of what Putin would accept as ways that the fighting in UKR could be ended. Find out the level of interest in RU aligning with the West and in opposition to China.
Where is Trump in terms of defending Elon? Trump could let if be known that he wants Americans to talk to Russians. The two countries could easily be allies. Talk about the importance of UKR remaining an intact country. By the US having friendly relations with RU there is no reason for RU to interfere with or undermine democracy in UKR.
“By the US having friendly relations with RU there is no reason for RU to interfere with or undermine democracy in UKR.”
That possibility was blown out of the water by US neocons in 2000 when Putin wanted to join NATO.
I agree with Steve. Trump has said repeatedly that if elected, he will end the Ukraine war immediately. When I initially read that Elon MAY be talking to Putin, I wondered if he was working on Trump’s peace plan. Would be good if Trump chimed in on this. Unfortunately these news outlets are not interested in an actual story. They’re only interested in being used as a weapon to destroy anyone who gets out of line.
Kudos to you Bob, more great reporting.
One quibble though, and I have seen this in several articles where you wrote about Ukraine.
It is NOT “the” Ukraine, just simply Ukraine.
Keep up the great work!
All the agencies targeting Musk would never admit it but probably know they deserve to be at the top of his clean up list. They’ve all seen how much better TwitterX functions since Musk cut 80% of the slackers (obviously they weren’t doing any important work).
When he said saving $2 trillion, I almost felt bad for people within miles of DC for the stench of all the diapers being filled.
What they have no clue about is Musk has been willing to risk bankruptcy with SpaceX and Tesla in order to build the successful businesses they’ve become. All their threats and whining have done is push him even farther away, convinced him to increase his number of bodyguards, and made him more excited about the prospect of cleaning up or ending their anti-American agencies.
I’m reminded of the Pink Floyd song, Keep Talking. Everyone’s favorite scientist (not really), Stephen Hawking is saying, “for millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals . Then something happened that unleashed the power of our imagination; the urge to talk. All we need to do is keep talking” (just not to Putin, or the enemies of the left).
DanM: Thank you for the kind words about my work. As for using “the Ukraine,” I don’t agree, quite strongly. I have increasingly refused to go along with the language changes demanded by those in power, from either academia or political hacks.
American Indians are NOT “native Americans.” I am a native American.
A guy who likes to wear woman’s clothes is NOT “transgender,” he is either a cross-dresser or a transvestite.
A man is a man and a woman is a woman. I will NOT call one the other just because a slightly insane person demands me to.
Leftists are NOT “progressives”, “liberals”, or whatever new word they have come up with to hide their politicas. Leftists are quite often also communists, which they especially don’t like others to know.
Gender affirmation is nothing more than the sexual mutilation and castration of children.
And Kiev is Kiev, NOT Kviv (or however they now want us to call it). This is English, and this is how we have always spelled and pronounced it. I lived in Kiev for more than a month, living in with locals, and none was offended by the reality of English prononunciation.
The Urkaine is the Ukraine, just like the Hague and the Netherlands. And I will continue to call it that.
I was “hoping” that Elon having Communication relations with Russia to be true. (He’s in China a lot) The international space station was built upon such relations. (even though proven to be problematic)
Any colonization of mars would by necessity include a nuclear power plant… Russia is not inhibited by design modifications that prevent such innovations in the United States. (The nuclear regulatory administration rules with an iron fist)
There are rumors that Russia has a nuclear powered supersonic missile that can fly for years without refueling.
Nearly every science fiction book I’ve read includes such a compact power source as being necessary for any interstellar flight. I have drawn up plans for a continuous thrust ship that captures its exhaust (water) and recirculates it through such a power plant.
The Russians currently have a floating reactor prototype that has shown itself to be reliable and just underwent its first refueling.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_floating_nuclear_power_station
Designed after another prototype developed in US, in the 60s out of a World War II victory ship. Now they’re ready to produce more ships for remote mining sites, desalinization ships for the middle east, and to assist islands and poor countries prevented from developing or using modern technology themselves. (Independent floating cities and launch complexes are also been drawn up)
These are all necessities for Mars as well, and it it all starts with plentiful and reliable power source.
I still believe the first Mars base should occur on one of the poles were water, nitrogen, carbon dioxide is plentiful, and on the surface. (Mining is minimal) It’s only moderately colder temperature then near the equator.
Once resources necessary for life are secure, the entire planet is within reach starting with Helena basin. It has higher air pressure and is the best candidate for nuclear materials resulting from the impact. (thermal and radioactive hotspots should be visible from space)
Elon is not getting any younger and is on a time table, deadlines must be met. Taking a chance, siding with Trump is a move of expediency.

When Elon musk is mentioned, people pay attention. At least I do. Like the election fiasco, is it all just entertainment as a distraction? All foam and no beer?
Or as one comedian pointed out about the Island of trash joke in the ocean… Puerto Rico,
“You don’t invite a comedian to a rally unless you want him to make jokes… That would be like asking Beyoncé to a rally and expecting her to…”
Now for the scary stuff.
You have all heard of the administrative state. Unelected officials that make rules that are enforced with the weight of law.
On September 27, a new DOD directive has voided the “Posse Comitatus Act” Allowing troops directed by the Pentagon to fire with lethal force on individuals or groups that are threatening. (they must stop after 72 hours for permission)
Although written as “assistance to civilian enforcement”, the only legitimate threat to Federal agencies is police and armed civilians. (But unarmed civilians such as on January 6 are “concerning” and fall inside the scope of lethal force.)
3.3. LEVELS OF AUTHORITY.
Subject to Paragraph 3.1., Defense Intelligence Components may provide personnel to assist a Federal department or agency, including a Federal law enforcement agency, or a State or local law enforcement agency when lives are in danger, in response to a request for such assistance, in accordance with the following approval authorities:
(c) Assistance in responding with assets with potential for lethality, or any situation in which it is reasonably foreseeable that providing the requested assistance may involve the use of force that is likely to result in lethal force, including death or serious bodily injury. It also includes all support to civilian law enforcement officials in situations where a confrontation between civilian law enforcement and civilian individuals or groups is reasonably anticipated. Such use of force must be in accordance with DoDD 5210.56, potentially as further restricted based on the specifics of the requested support.
Just as DOD (department of defense) operation warp speed produced by DARPA was authorized to save civilians… from the flu?
The directives true intent is to remove civic authority from threat status… To themselves, the Federal government. To take full control and act quickly in emergencies. A kinder gentler martial law.
Digital passports to go shopping (if your social score is high enough) with digital money can’t be far behind.

In reality, “operation warp speed” preformed the opposite function with an untested genetic altering substance they called a “vaccine” (which it was not) designed to be harmful or lethal to our enemies. (does that make us the enemy?)
What are the chances that all those retired generals that signed a letter hating Trump, working for the deep state pharmaceutical/defense department, have good intentions for MAGA voters?
Other sentences from the document that worry me;
“ i. Research involving human subjects must be done in accordance with DoDI 3216.02”
“Human subject research involving prisoners of war or detainees is prohibited”
“The disclosure requirement does not apply to enrollment of individual students in academic institutions”…
“(d) Environmental and security vulnerability studies.”
“The collection techniques described in DoDM 5240.01 and DoDD 5148.13 will be employed only to perform intelligence or CI functions assigned to the Defense Intelligence Component concerned. Use of such techniques to collect information about U.S. persons must:
(1) Be limited to the least intrusive means feasible.”
Has torture become fashionable again?
I think this one concerns Trump…
l. No DoD civilian employee or member of the Armed Forces will engage in, or conspire to engage in, assassination.
The exception clause;
m. Defense Intelligence Component activities conducted under support agreements with other DoD Components or non-DoD Federal departments and agencies in accordance with DoDI 4000.19 will comply with this issuance unless an exception is granted by law, E.O., Presidential directive, DoD policy, or Secretary of Defense, Deputy Secretary of Defense, or USD(I&S) memorandum.
Yes, assassination by memorandum… sounds so mundane.
