We'll have to find out if a particular skylight is worth a human trip first, Trent. So Oregon L-5 is looking at several robotic possibilities for survey and mapping of lavatubes on the Moon and Mars. Small flyers, humanoid Robonauts, and "wall crawlers" are in the running, as far as we are concerned. Each may have different roles to play at different points in the exploration. Once we have a decent idea of the interior dimensions, and an entry method decided on, we can send humans to get busy. If you'd like to look at what can result once humans arrive, go see the National Space Society Island in the virtual world, Second Life. We are not yet done with it by any means, but it begins to give an idea of what we may do with the tubes.
