In Michigan, Tudor Dixon won the republican primary for Governor & will face Whitmer in the Fall.
(looking forward to potentially having an attractive birthing-person governor who’s not a weirdo)

I’ll note that Jeff Weninger was the co-author of HB 2423 (in 2019) focused on spaceflight activities. The bill, which was signed into law on April 16, 2019, allows a spaceflight entity to enter into a liability release agreement with crew to limit the entity’s civil liability for injury arising out of space flight activities. Weninger consulted with public and private experts in space activity to draft legislation that continues to establish Arizona as a leader in space research, development, and operations. In multiple conversations I’ve had with Jeff in 2019 and afterwards, he acknowledged that Arizona is blessed with ideal climate and geography to build, test, and operate space launch systems. Weninger’s HB 2423 was a step to ensure Arizona’s legal climate matches its natural advantages.

The Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) oversees the three research universities (UArizona, ASU, and NAU). Its members are appointed by the governor on a complicated schedule.

Pima Community College has a Governing Board whose candidates are on the ballot, again on a complicated schedule. I assume (but do not know) that other community colleges in the state have similar boards.

Reading through the filing for the injunction I learned that the scantron devices we use to count votes are the dreaded Dominion voting machines. Had no idea these things connected to the internet. Anything on the internet can be hacked and altered. On the positive side, it is good there is a paper copy of every ballot which the auditors were able to review. I had thought the Dominion voting machine outcry was over touchscreen voting machines that do not produce a paper ballot.

@wayne In Arizona I have voted for the community college board and local school boards, but not any kind of office for the state schools.

One thing that I have come to understand about Arizona politics and the governor’s race: Kari Lake is a stone cold Conservative super star and has an ice pick sharp tongue and mind and she knows how to use them both, especially against the perverted and corrupt un and anti American media and her political adversaries (D’s).

She as a candidate and political warrior is what the political warfare in America is won by.

I am hopeful and look forward to her crushing her opponents.

Does Arizona have any state-wide elected positions for any of your State Universities?

In Michigan, we have a “Board of Regents” for each of our 3 larger state universities. (and it would be no surprise the Democrats dominate on all 3 boards. It’s not even close. (8 members each board– 24 people nobody really knows anything about.)
And yes, Balletpedia is a wealth of knowledge!

Last Optimist: You should go to the Balletpedia link I provide and review the three candidates. In doing so I find that two, Nick Myers and Kevin Thompson, are running as a team. Both have job experience at utilities. Kim Owens does not, but she has some experience at the Arizona Power Authority.

Personally, I am not enthused by any of these. However, compared to the Democratic Party candidates, who seem more interested in environmental issues, the Republicans remain the only choice. Since I have to choose two, I’d take Kim Owens and Kevin Thompson, so as to not stuff the commission with a single faction. Also, Myers website didn’t work, which definitely does not impress.

Any thoughts on the Corporate Commission candidates? I appreciate that Kim Owens wants to support micro nuclear reactors, but I do not know enough about the three candidates to pick two.
