Some years ago, I worked out an off the shelf plan for a Martian homestead, written up on the late, lamented SFF.net. It involved a few million dollars worth of airtight steel bombshelters, modified Tesla trucks, solar panels, and the like, and was intended to replicate my lifestyle here at the Country Estate. The big quasi-unsolved problems were sourcing air and water (I have a well and septic system here, and know about digesters from having been a sewer worker). I sited my Marstead near a known ice source, so now it could be more or less anywhere within drilling distance of that "ground water." My only good solution for air (and a poor one at that) was a industrial rebreather system and imported perchlorate candles (and being careful to conserve the canned nitrogen supply). It was a fun thought experiment. (I discounted the costoif getting it to Mars, and it would probably require a dedicated Starship cargo run, so a lot more to transport than to fabricate on Earth.)
