I wonder how long the capsule might be able to float?  Without communications, it would be wicked hard to find in the trackless South Pacific, even if the chutes are still attached and also floating.  And there is probably a fairly short limit on how long the recovery vessel can search before being forced to go somewhere for more fuel.  Not a lot of convenient service stations out that way.
