Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Biden would use presidential power to force everyone to wear masks

They’re coming for you next: Democratic Party presidential candidate Joe Biden said today that he would would use his power as president to require everyone to wear masks.

“I would go back to making sure that everybody had masks,” Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, told KDKA. “The one thing we do know is that these masks make a gigantic difference. I would insist that everybody in public be wearing that mask. … I would do everything possible to make it required that people had to wear masks in public,” he added later. [emphasis mine]

Put aside the fact that the benefits of mask use remain highly uncertain, and also include some very likely negative medical consequences. Also put aside Biden’s incorrect assumption that somehow there once had been a national mandate to wear masks.

What I find horrifying is the assumption that a president has the right to require such a thing. Not only does Biden assume he can issue such an edict, it appears that everyone now assumes they must obey it.

Nowhere under law is such a draconian dictate by a president allowed. Nowhere. In fact, if anything, the Bill of Rights expressly forbids it.

And yet, we have come to a place where a presidential candidate thinks he will have that right, and I guarantee he will be supported in that belief by his entire party.

Make no mistake. They’re coming for you next.

The support of my readers through the years has given me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Four years ago, just before the 2020 election I wrote that Joe Biden's mental health was suspect. Only in this year has the propaganda mainstream media decided to recognize that basic fact.

Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Even today NASA and Congress refuse to recognize this reality.

In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.

Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

    Related:

Just this morning an older customer comes in, she is North of 80, wearing a mask and she has heavy dish washing gloves on.

She is a very nice woman, about 4′ 10″ tall, maybe 80 lbs, a high piercing voice, a bit scattered in her speech, a Liberal, and I know she is or was heavily involved with many U.N. affiliated organizations having to do with the environment.

So she comes in and I now have a chain across the front strung from the counter and the end of the door that stops people from fully entering with a sign reading: “STEP IN, WAIT, ONE PERSON IN THE STORE, AND THAT IS ME”

(I have to do this to limit any potential technical “problems”)

And we begin talking about why I have this new sign on a chain, why my doors are open and why I have three fans on. And she tells me that she notices that there are up to 10 people at a coffee shop a couple of blocks away and they are sitting on chairs outside on the side walk, but THEY ARE NOT WEARING MASKS!!

And I say to her “You know, if you are outside in the open air and there really is no one around IMO you really do not need to wear a mask”. “But if you feel you should wear one that is fine, its up to you”. If you are older and feel the need to wear a mask when your outside then so be it. And the media hype makes people think that the virus is flying around and hanging in the air and it will attack them. Oy.

Her reply to me was: “Oh no, everyone needs to wear a mask” and then she says to me “I want to call the police and have them all arrested, they are breaking the law!”. I thought she was kidding…….but she corrected me, she was dead serious. And that is what these kinds of people think and do. Joe Biden is no better.

Luckily she likes me, during the initial insanity on the contagion she came in and was beside herself complaining to me that she could not find any toilet paper. I tell her to wait a moment, and I go in the back and grab her a nice fluffy roll and come out and present it to her.

She was so appreciative because there was absolutely none to be found. And she begins to say to me, and I know exactly what she is going to say……about when she was going to remember me…..and before she could utter it I tell her. No..no.. no do not say it! (So disturbing, not imagery that I want in my brain)

So given that I am her toilet paper hero hopefully she will not make that call on me because I was standing there with my pair of safety glasses that I built a mask into around my neck which I wear more symbolically and not on my face. Remember, I live in NYC.

Cotour, thanks for that, and I do agree with you about mask use, not much point outside.

. . . Though if you’re in a closely packed crowd probably better than nothing – but not being in a closely packed crowd far better.

    Andrew W:

Your welcome, just a slice of reality from the real world.

    PS:

Joe Biden has revealed that you were correct but even your estimate of 2 million dead was blown out of the water! Joe Biden reveals, 120 million dead from the virus.

And that is why, like Hillary, Joe Biden will be the next president of the United States.

  • Andrew_W

NYPost: “Self-proclaimed “gaffe machine” Joe Biden added several extra zeroes to the nation’s coronavirus death toll during a campaign stop.”

    OK.

By the way Cotour, you keep using “your” when you mean “you’re” ;-)

I just got down “Their” and “There”, but thanks I will work on it.

    Andrew_W, or really anyone:
Please provide a link or links to scientific peer reviewed studies and/or data that shows the effectiveness of anything less than a respirator against viral infection.
“Better than nothing” would be nice, if it were true.

  • Andrew_W

The findings of this systematic review of 172 studies (44 comparative studies; n=25 697 patients) on COVID-19, SARS, and MERS provide the best available evidence that current policies of at least 1 m physical distancing are associated with a large reduction in infection, and distances of 2 m might be more effective. These data also suggest that wearing face masks protects people (both health-care workers and the general public) against infection by these coronaviruses, and that eye protection could confer additional benefit. However, none of these interventions afforded complete protection from infection, and their optimum role might need risk assessment and several contextual considerations. No randomised trials were identified for these interventions in COVID-19, SARS, or MERS.

    ……………

Further high-quality research, including randomised trials of the optimum physical distance and the effectiveness of different types of masks in the general population and for health-care workers’ protection, is urgently needed. Two trials are registered to better inform the optimum use of face masks for COVID-19 (NCT04296643 [n=576] and NCT04337541 [n=6000]). Until such data are available, our findings represent the current best estimates to inform face mask use to reduce infection from COVID-19.

Have the anti-mask people started saying you don’t need to wash your hands yet?

  • wodun: No. That is an absurd and somewhat insulting insinuation. Those who point out the very uncertain claims about the benefits of general public mask use in all situations routinely state that washing the hands is the best thing you can do to limit the spread of any disease.

You might want to reread my essay from May 26, 2020 on mask use, and its failures when trying to ask the entire population to do it at all times, continuously. It doesn’t work, and it is downright unrealistic to expect it to.

A GAFF MACHINE AND LUCIFERS HAND MAIDEN

The white cracker aged and aging leadership of the Democratic party is telling everyone in America, black white and otherwise, that they in fact are qualified to lead America and the world? This is the best that the Democrat party has? That is both a question and a statement.

I say that the silent majority, the meat and potatoes, tax paying, police loving Americans see through it all and will soundly reject these imposers that pose as those who would assume the power of the presidency. (And I am going to begin calling Nancy Pelosi “Lucifer’s hand maiden” not because I think she is Luciferian or Santanic but because as a politician she is in such a hard spot that she has and will say ANYTHING to villainize Trump and the GOP and in doing so she transmits her desperation in her ridiculous rhetoric.) These are not leaders of the free world, not qualified in any way shape or form. Would be comical if it was not such a serious issue. But this is our system, this is our process.

Biden: 120 million dead from virus? : 6/26/20: Joe Biden in Pennsylvania speech: “Not only is the healthcare piece, but people don’t have a job, people don’t have anywhere to go, they don’t know what they’re going to do. And a lot of people – you have, unnecessarily, now we have over 120 million dead from COVID.”

Biden: 150 million dead in gun violence? : 2/25/20: Joe Biden in South Carolina primary debate: “We would give immunity to tobacco companies. That has caused carnage on our streets. 150 million people have been killed since 2007 when Bernie voted to exempt the gun manufacturers from liability. More than all the wars, including Vietnam, from that point on.”

Pelosi: George Kirby? : 6/26/20: Nancy Pelosi, Speaker Of The House news conference: “Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi called George Floyd by the wrong name Friday, just one day after House Democrats passed police reform legislation. In a Friday press conference, Pelosi called Floyd, “George Kirby.” This comes as Pelosi worked with the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to come up with legislation on racial profiling and police brutality as protests continue across the country over the death of Floyd and others.”

Pelosi: GOP murdered George Floyd? : “On Wednesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) refused to apologize for accusing Republicans of “trying to get away with murder, the murder of George Floyd.” The Senate Republican Communications Center had demanded an apology, but she refused to give one.

Old and getting feebler by the day, and this is what the Democrats offer the people of America to lead them. So sad and just not serious. (And I still highly doubt that it will indeed be Biden as the Democrats nominee for president. But stranger things have happened, this is politics after all.)

    All is being revealed.

  • Matthew Straney

I just don’t think the enthusiasm is there for Biden like it is for Trump and he will win in the end. We’re going to be riding on alot of hope up to November. Trump will win in the debates. Media will cover for Biden at every opportunity. Remember Hillary Clinton is going to win 2016 polls and they’ve learned nothing this whole time. The media will learn nothing after this they’ll keep doing what they are doing now with more tears in their eyes. And start impeachment round 2

  • Rose

No one is suggesting that there is more enthusiasm for Biden himself than for Trump. The question is whether there is more enthusiasm for or against Trump, and if the election can be portrayed primarily as a referendum on Trump.

    Andrew W-

“These data also SUGGEST (emphasis added) that wearing face masks protects people…..”

Which particular study yielded irrefutable evidence that wearing face masks actually protects people?

Which particular study yielded irrefutable evidence that wearing face masks actually protects people and poses no health risks to those donning masks?

  • Andrew_W

Liberty Mike, better to accept the evidence available than to make stuff up.
