Thanks for the sarcasm alert, but I think that you were serious that there is no video, a-la James O’Keefe.

Fortunately, paper trails are still valid evidence. They were good as evidence before video and O’Keefe, and they still are.

Abscam was a bit different, where investigators (posing as Arabs, thus the “Ab” in the title) stung businessmen and public officials (including US Congressmen and a US Senator) for corrupt activities, and they were able to hide cameras within rooms in which they held some of their meetings. There is no sting operation for the IRS fiasco, just records and any witnesses that they can convince to come forward.

Although video cameras were harder to hide on clothing, at the time of Abscam, there were videos made of some of the meets. My understanding is that Abscam is the first sting to use videotape (consumer video cameras were a new technology at the time) to record corrupt government officials accepting bribes.

It seems to me that since the elected politicians aren’t making headway on this scandal, it is up to the victims to expose as much of the corruption as possible. Once enough evidence of high-level (Congressional, and maybe White House) wrongdoing is exposed, we will see whether the US public is willing to apply the same standards as were applied to Watergate.

WOW! That’s very interesting information. I would dearly love to confront this cheap hustler with a fierce campaign against him, detailing his sordid life in Congress where he launched several attacks on Oregon’s economy, but I would need the support of the Republican party, and I doubt I would get it!

it’s far worse than you think. Wyden is effectively the 3rd Senator from New York. This is only possible because urban Oregon is so blindly democrat.

His real home is in New York.
His children live in New York
His wife lives in New York.
Oregon is just a distant plantation used to grow and harvest votes.

Wyden should put the Oregon condo he owns (to meet residency requirements), for rent on airbnb because it’s always vacant.

Based on my experience living in New York and Maryland, my question is whether any of the Oregon liberals you know who have always voted for Democrats without thinking will consider changing their votes and go with the Republican?

I suspect none. Until the close-minded Democratic electorate abandons its marriage to the Democratic Party we can expect no change, and in fact will instead see things continue to get worse, as these power-hungry and corrupt Democratic politicians take advantage of their guaranteed votes to abuse their power.

The “there was no quid pro quo” is what you here from those defending anyone in these circumstances, like Hillary and all of her and her husbands, what IMO seems to be racketeering and should be investigated and prosecuted under the RICO statute, antics.

There is rarely any video or evidence of any formal qid pro quo between those who would do such things, but people know how to get the money or the actions to who needs to get it. Maybe in Abscam there was such evidence.

So when you here such defenses when there us such obvious and blatant conflicts of interests you know excuses and cover is being fabricated for the accused offenders.

Obama could come out and say he personally ordered it and Democrats would find a way to say that doesn’t count as proof.

Can you imagine what would happen if it was exposed that Republicans and the Democrats have been using unlawful and illegal means, helping each other to stay in power of the richest country in the world?
