Who in the world thinks the U.S. has a small government? The U.S. hasn’t had a small government in almost 70 years. And worse, the size has been growing exponentially for decades. That’s the problem!

That included both private-sector and government workers.

Shame they didn’t break down that number too.

Apparently there’s about 22 million government employees, although only 17 million are full time.

This also doesn’t count all the “contractors” who work for privately owned companies that only have a single customer – the government. Many of these workers actually got sent home during the government shutdown, because they literally have nothing to do without the government around.

The idea that the US has a small government is.. antiquated. The pre-war German government wasn’t even this big.
