It’s a clever framing device, and a clever story, but where would the rations come from? If everyone’s on house arrest, no one can grow food crops or process them, and I’m pretty sure that by 2050 the Chinese will be unwilling to loan us money to buy grain. Not that this isn’t exactly the sort of plan a brain donor like AOC would come up with. I would not be shocked to learn she believes food magically materializes on supermarket shelves every night at midnight. Farmers? Who dat?

If your source traveled through spacetime that far into time, they could not have relayed that information back. While closed time loops are fun theoretical constructs, they can not exist in nature.
