One other thought this brings to mind. I don’t think the space community at large gets that Musk doesn’t care about the moon. His whole focus is on Mars. Listening to various David Livingston interviews lately and so many of them pre dialed in to the Moon, mostly for the national prestige benefits. They talk of Starship almost exclusively in terms of the Moon. IMO, anything Musk does in LEO or the Moon is focused on how it will get him to Mars. If he could get to Mars without ever landing a Starship on the Moon, I think it would be fine with him. I wonder if that is the fundamental disconnect between Musk and the Trump team. He has one agenda, they have another.
