John talked about Howard Hughes' Glomar Explorer. It's cover story was an oil-drilling vessel, but it was to salvage a Soviet Golf-class submarine. Interesting read about this- "Blind Man's Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage". Great book.
I learned a lot about the Glomar Explorer from the crew of the Jasper Explorer, when I was onboard. Many of the members of the vessel worked on the Glomar Explorer and they knew many technical details that were not covered in the book.
Before anyone gets any ideas, the Jasper Explorer was a true oil-drilling vessel, and I am just an electrical engineer.
