There are two cameras on LightSail 2, mounted at the tips of two of the four deployable solar panels. These two panels are opposed to each other, so the camera views basically provide a 360-deg. view of the solar sail when it is deploying and fully deployed.

As part of the spacecraft checkout process, images were taken using these cameras before the solar panels were deployed, thus providing the “inside” views. After panel deployment the cameras provide the “outside” views.
