Since comets are diffuse objects, you cannot equate the appearance to the eye of a comet and a star of equal magnitude. The comet will appear dimmer than the star. Of course, if the comet is close enough to the Earth and Sun to display a tail, that will add to the visibility. Let’s hope for a good show!
