I am doing all right but I could be doing better. As I said before, this is the equivalent of a really bad flu.

How are you feeling? Hoping you are better. I saw the earlier recommendations of monoclonal antibodies and I concur. My father in law (mid 60s, lots of co-morbidities) came down with Covid (despite being double taxed) and was struggling. He took the antibodies treatment and was much better in two days. The key (at least in Tennessee where he was) was to ask for the treatment before admission to the hospital. Apparently (not sure why), they wouldn’t administer the treatment in the hospital.

Our fearful leaders have in mind other goals than our health and safety, so they ignore the actual data and tell us that they are the ones following the science. Because we are so poorly taught science, these days, a majority of us believe our fearful leaders. We believe them when they say that it is for the greater good, that if it saves just one life, then mandating a test faux vaccine to all is worth the many other lives lost or permanently harmed. It is better to have our ports backed up and our supply chains interrupted, including the supplies of therapeutics, as long as our fearful leaders eventually point to that one life saved, no matter that our fearful leaders break their own mandates and decrees, causing that one life to not be saved after all.

Our national reaction to the Wuhan flu was based upon models that predicted 60,000 deaths rather than 100,000 if we followed a three-week shelters in place — forty thousand lives were supposed to be saved. Instead we went overboard (if a little is good, more must be better) and have killed more than ten times as many, and we continue with the worst possible choices as reactions to the disease — even to the point of banning certain life-saving therapeutics and rationing others that are in plenty supply. We cannot stop this disease, and we are all going to catch it at some time; banning or controlling therapeutics is counterproductive. If health and safety were the goal, the emphasis would be on health and safety, not irrational, panic-induced mandates that the science shows does more harm than good to the greatest number of people.

Never in the field of human health have so many sacrificed so much yet failed to save so few.

But here is what he predicted all the same.

Supplements proven effective and the proven effective use of off label drugs employed early against this virus are apparently the long term answer to this emerging variant. YOU must protect yourself, your government is working against your interests, either as a function of their fear, ignorance and resulting policy, or by agenda. Choose one, or both?

If you remember when this all began and the mRNA vaccine was rolled out in the rushed manner that it was I clearly stated something like: “Don’t be so anxious to own this rushed experimental therapy, this thing could turn around and bite you in the buttocks.”.

And so your point that at least Trump left the choice to receive the vaccine up to you and not mandated by government is valid and reasonable. With risk there should be choice. Took a COVID test today and confirmed that yes, at last, I have gotten this dreaded plague. Bah. It reminds me of the flu I had in the 2000s in almost every way, except that now I am much older and not as strong to fight it.

And yet I am. I also had made some preparations with my doctor several months ago for when this finally happened. I had both hydroxycholoroquine and a zinc pack in my medicine cabinet, ready to go.

I expect that by the end of this coming weekend I should be recovered enough to resume most of my full schedule. Which will prove once again that the fear people have of COVID is irrational and should be discarded. 99% of everyone who gets it survives.

Both losses are deep cuts that hurt because they impact your family, both your social family as well as the residents in your household.

Caving on Mars.

I know the sting of losing beloved pets. My heart goes out to you and your wife for the loss.

As far as losing your community and “friends,” a true friend would never abandon you based on ONE belief that they don’t agree with.

Tolerance is a lost virtue these days as everyone seems to be keen on judging others. I for one know I am not even close to perfect, Therefore, I don’t really have the right to look down on anyone for their beliefs.

But hey, that’s just one guy out of 7 Billion, what do I know?

Not quite true. Not the entire community but a significant majority. Yes, many were noted to be personal friends of you. Only three spoke in your defense, one being an abstainer citing old grudges should not be grounds for black listing.

While I must be vaccinated for international travel, I support a person’s rights. The worst the Biden administration could do was mandate vaccination. The end result being detrimental to the intent. The governments have lost all credibility, and people just do not believe. They were better to inform and let people make their own decisions.

By the way, the protocols put into place by the caving community, even I, being triply vaccinated, would not qualify to attend. These were in excess of the procedures used by a teem for a recent cave rescue. It was as if they were trying to specifically target the anti-vaxers, and Bob in particular.

I support the flu and covid vaccines, but not mandates for the general public: health care workers – yes (since they are in contact with many with the viruses) but not the general public.

As for caving, the only thing I think would be worse is cave (scuba) diving. Light goes out and you’re dead. I’m just too paranoid do that without dire need. There are some, said to be impressive, touristy (i.e. well lit) caves near my new place; I will check them out.

My favorite cat, Calvin, “walked out on the ice”. He started moping around and before we took him to the vet, he just vanished. Putting his brother Hobbes down was difficult, but we had a great doctor who did it at our house. He died in his home with his human family around him. (Don’t tell: he’s buried under a tree in the backyard of the former house – the brat killed the first two trees we planted over him.) The vanishing was harder.
