An Atlas with solid fuel motors for the first stage? Seems that such a radical shift in design would delay replacement by years. Is there any other rocket that uses solids for a first stage in this manner other than the discarded Ares 1 from Constellation? It ought to make for a very fun ride up on the CST-100 capsule as well.
