My friend is a good and well meaning American, and he is a never Trumper. Despises Trump, thinks all he is up to is 100 percent doing the president thing for his own personal enrichment, period. (Trumps personal wealth has declined by $1.5 Billion to date, he may just be a millionaire by the time he is done) Sees Trump not as any kind of a patriot, sees him only as a Putin puppet, beleives he is controlled by Putin still. (Even though a two year $32 million dollar investigation by the best that the DOJ and the FBI had says differently). My friend sees everything in absolute terms.

I asked him: “Please point out how Trump’s leadership threatens the Constitution, what is he doing that you see as accomplishing what you say he is doing?”

His answer: “Trump is just in it for himself, and he is controlled by Putin”. Thats it, nothing more to add.

He asked me: “Did you watch the hearings?” “All of those witnesses were very intelligent and they were moral, really good people, patriots”.

Me: “I agree, they were all highly intelligent, impressed the hell out of me, and all very well spoken. Just the kind of people who you want doing the jobs that they have”.

But that is not leadership, they are employees. As they all essentially agreed with no matter the politics or agenda they were tasked with promoting.

These highly intelligent and well spoken diplomats, patriots, were hired to do a job, and that job is to as best as they can manifest the leaderships agenda. And to be fired if they are not thought to be the correct person for the job that the leadership sees and wants done. And that is their lot in life, that is what they signed up for. Or to quit if they are so conflicted that they can not in good conscience do their assigned jobs.

What did Barack Obama do when he became president? He fired all of Bush’s appointed diplomats. And that is probably what Trump should have done, but he did not. Why? (Trump has been a little busy lately) Because those EMPLOYEES although very smart and highly intelligent, well spoken and patriotic in their own way may bring with them the agenda that has been established in the past and may be well invested in that agenda and will tend to resist the change that the people of America through their electing a new president wanted. Sorry, there are just consequences to elections.

I hired Trump to NOT do what was done in the past in regards to just about everything that has gone on the the past 30 or 40 years in American goverment, in Washington D.C. especially.

So there are very big differences between good and very intelligent people being hired to do a particular job, and leadership. Leadership for reasons that are not exactly quantifiable and definable are hired to do things in the manner more or less as they see fit within the parameters of their job description. That is what they were empowered by the people to do. The employees operate within a more defined black and white set of parameters, and leadership operates within or without to certain degrees a more gray set of parameters of operation.

Bureaucrats are the gears that allow forward and reverse motion, leadership is the driver at the wheel and on the gas peddle that says what direction the bureaucracy is going and how fast. And when the bureaucracy comes to beleive that they are the driver of the policy and agenda then they must be replaced. There is always certain risk in leadership, but that is how a new direction and the potential for real progress is fulfilled. Bureaucracy can never make progress, bureaucracy can only create more and more bureaucracy, that is the nature of bureaucracy. Employees, bureaucracrats in this case, as good as they may be at their jobs can only maintain “good” or “bad” policy depending on your political perspective and opinion, and that will in time destroy us all by stagnation and the unsustainable growth of the bureaucracy through the lack of real leadership and vision. Bureaucracy embraced is the manure where Socialism and Communism sprouts and grows.

Real leadership is never to be confused with the opinions or the politics of employees hired to do a job. NEVER. But people tend to confuse the two all the time.
