Given that the bureaucrats in Europe are also running increasingly Soviet-style censorship regimes and increasingly Soviet-style purging of political candidates and parties which dissent from the approved spectrum of political opinion, I don’t think we should be surprised by this, alas.

It’s depressing to realize that this is where most of Western Europe is now, 35 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
