Yep - Forbidden Planet, truly one of the best Sci-Fi movies of all time ! ! That film influenced a lot of films in the genre that followed.

Thanks for posting this, Bob - got a big kick out of the Forbidden Planet soundtrack & also the one that someone posted on YouTube with the title "Acid House from 1958" - enormously entertaining ! !

". . . Forbidden Planet (1956), one of the best science fiction films ever made."

Concur. I own a copy and watch it every couple of years.

The film featured the first entirely electronic score. Star Trek (TOS) liberally sampled from the plot for several episodes, and is referenced in 'Firefly' ('Trash') and 'Serenity' (the registration number of the crashed ship).

For several years, my car sported a ALTAIR4 plate. I've also had a TALOS4 plate (the other forbidden planet).
