Readers!

The time has come for my annual short Thanksgiving/Christmas fund drive for Behind The Black. I must do this every year in order to make sure I have earned enough money to pay my bills.

For this two-week campaign, I am offering a special deal to encourage donations. Donations of $200 will get a free autographed copy of the new paperback edition of Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, while donations of $250 will get a free autographed copy of the new hardback edition. If you desire a copy, make sure you provide me your address with your donation.

As I noted in July, the support of my readers through the years has given me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.

In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.

Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:

4. Donate by check, payable to Robert Zimmerman and mailed to

The NYTimes does real journalism!

In what might be the most astonishing report from the New York Times earlier this month, one of its reporters decided to take a look at the governance in those states where the Democrats essentially rule with no Republican opposition, and asked this very pointed question: “What do Democrats really do when they have all the power?”

The result is the video below. Watch it. You will be entertained at how the great and all-powerful New York Times suddenly discovers some obvious news.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Yeah, but this can also be seen as a way to attack what few centrist Democrats there are left. Get rid of the Cuomos, and us purists Omar types will right the ship.

SOME DAY IN THE NEAR FUTURE

Some day in the near future things will come to a head, you know its coming. And everyone, the majority anyway, will realize that this “Politically Correct” Leftist, Democrat party machine, Globalist imagined utopian world that is being attempted to be crafted and installed on planet earth is a fraud and an intellectualized phony reality.

And it remains to be seen to what degree the realization and the push back by the real people, that majority, will be.

https://youtu.be/n6BP03xkNIM Nana Akua 2:48, on Christmas.

And the real reality and the people that inhabit it cares not one second about an intellectualized interpretation of reality. Reality and those real people who pay all the bills laugh at such things. For a while anyway.

And it does not matter whether its coming from Britain or the United States its all the same. Stupid is stupid. Intellectualized “Politically Correct”, “Woke” reality is STUPID. Its stupid and it is very dangerous and it is intended ultimately to see blood run in the streets in order to cause the real change, the destruction of America and its Constitution in order that it be rebuilt from the ground up. Rebuilt in the Intellectualized Leftist / Socialist “reality” model.

(There are no guarantees you know, all potentials exist. “IT”, America, its Constitution, any form of governance, its all just one big social experiment. Its a choice.)

And in that model everyone becomes a slave, they own nothing because they are all bankrupt, and they do as they are told by their government because they are now entirely dependent on that government. That is the ultimate expression of the culture of dependency, the ultimate welfare state. The Democrat party machine’s wet dream.

And that is one crazy definition of freedom or “Equity” as the Left likes to say. You all have an equal share of NOTHING!

I understand that the Leftists, the Democrats and the elite Globalists that run them and that they have allied with are on the surface selling the concept that they are trying to right the wrongs of the past as it relates to the abuses of the past by the west and colonialism and the like. Racism, stolen land, “Saving the planet” (I laugh when I hear that one), the evils of Capitalism, global warming, climate change, what ever they are calling it now, and all the rest of the hot button emotionalized issues that they have identified as their causes of all the inequities that exist on the planet.

What a sinking pile of bull crap! You know it, you see it.

For example, how do the Leftists, Democrats and Globalists propose to deal with solving racism? Do they teach mutual respect? NOOO. They promote racism, they teach racism, they teach retribution and they teach segregation. The Leftists, the Democrats and the Globalists need racism as a hot button emotional issue of manipulation. Racism is the Lefts tool of manipulation.

And the really funny thing is that if / when the Globalists gain the kind of control they seek all of those who see themselves as righteous “Equity” freedom fighters will all just be modern day slaves and be wholly owned by those same Globalist elites. Now, don’t you find that ironic? I love irony, the real cutting and counter intuitive kind of stupid irony. Allegedly fighting for racial equity and freedom, and the result is no equity AND you become a slave! To a bunch of extremely rich white men to boot! Now that is funny.

This piece started out about a British reporter reporting on the political correctness in Britain regarding the term “Merry Christmas”, and it ended by pointing out the stupidity of those who promote “Political Correctness” and the “Woke” Globalist world slave model.

And that is exactly what will result in the world the moment if and when the Leftists in America, the Democrat party machine and the Globalists take America and its Constitution down. Because the existence of America and the Constitution are the only things that in the real world that stands in the way of those Socialist goals. Funny.

    1) Palo Alto
This is the city in which I had my first job out of college. The proposed high-density housing project was about four blocks from my first boss’s house. The reason why Democrat voters vote differently than their rulers is that it is only the rulers who truly believe the peons should live poorer lives, whereas Democrat voters (the peons) want better lives. From the many, many liberals that I know and knew, the values that they advocate are for virtue signaling only.

I had confronted one person I knew in college, who advocated for socialism, but he was a proud capitalist when it came to his own income from drug sales. Capitalists and conservatives believe in free market capitalism and meritocracy for all, whereas Marxists believe in socialism for everyone else and capitalism for themselves.

    2) Washington State:
Did anyone else notice that they compared only taxes that were not based upon income? The result is to make it look like the rich are still not paying their “fair” share (whatever is a fair share of taxes, since government services are almost completely equitably distributed, except for welfare type services), thus income taxes should be increased for the rich — not that this would change the chart that they showed.

    3) Illinois:
Binyamin Appelbaum said, “the kids who have the greatest needs have the fewest resources.”

Wait. Don’t all the kids have the same need for the same amount of education? The statement above only acknowledges that the kids with the fewest resources have the fewest resources, so they “need” more. Equally distributing the resources may not help, either, as they may be used differently in different school districts. A better method is for parents to receive vouchers to send their children to any school they wish, which would force the schools to compete for students. The competition would necessarily require schools to improve or fail, and only the best schools would be left, teaching all the children.

    4) Blue state progress:
Eliminating single family zoning merely eliminates yet another freedom for We the People. It further increases the value of the single family home, which is the most desirable, and this only reinforces the housing-price problem lamented by Appelbaum and Johnny Harris

Blue states giving better chances to climb the economic ladder has been done in ways that fail to provide better chances to climb the economic ladder. As was mentioned in the video, they were not given a good enough education to climb the economic ladder; the gifts are in another form, such as welfare. In order to receive these gifts, the family must remain poor. Once they leave the lower class, they are on their own, a condition for which Blue states have not prepared them. Instead, they were only prepared to be greedy, insisting upon unearned gifts as restitution for the lack of actual opportunities to climb the ladder. It is a nasty cycle that only spirals downward.

I would say that it is ironic that the Blue states are the problem, that the real equality resides in the Red states, not the Blue states, but there is no irony here. Red states believe in equality of opportunity, whereas Blue states demand equality of outcome, no matter the merit. Even the Marxists know that capitalism is where the progress is made, where the outcomes are better, where the prosperity resides. But Democrats would rather virtue-signal policies that sound good yet fail everywhere they are tried. It is the false sense of fairness that drives their virtue signals, yet their own enlightened self interest drives their own prosperity. Unlike what Appelbaum says in the video, they are living their values, but they virtue-signal values they don’t believe in, values that sound good rather than do good. As he said, the virtue-signaled policies deny people the opportunity for prosperity.

These blue states have the most expensive non profit sector too, and highest costs to build or do anything. They all hated the $10k limit on deducting state and local taxes (SALT) from federal taxable income and are looking to play fast and loose with that in the bill the house passed. Logically the SALT limit should be 0

  • wayne: In this case it is amusing because it appears to be the case of the broken clock being right, twice a day.

  • “. . . the rich are still not paying their “fair” share . . ”

I am oh, so very tired, of hearing this. Tax law is what it is. The very same Congress that makes those laws, also complains about a minority doing exactly what those same-same Legislators are doing.

The 16th Amendment wiped out taxation by apportionment.

    Questioner–
make sure you include it all: “Holocaust denying, America-hating NYT’s.”
(Are you being serious or just playing me?)
The NYT’s spent the 1930’s worshipping Stalin, Hitler, and Mussolini, (as well as FDR) and covering up the forced famine in the Ukraine. They sent Walter Duranty to Moscow, where Stalin gave him a house, a car, and a girlfriend (whom he impregnated).
During WW-2 they intentionally refused to cover any mention of what would be known as the Holocaust.

In 2003 the NYT’s undertook a half-(expletive) journey into their own past:
    See:

Thank you. Well, that’s the long gone past. Are there still statements from the NYT that they doubt the Holocaust, also today? I would be very surprised.

Northeastern University Journalism Professor Laurel Leff will discuss why The Times decided to bury the story of the murder of Europe’s Jews and how that fateful decision affected contemporary understandings of the cataclysmic event. “

New Jersey towns have been destroyed by the housing policies imposed by State government. Every town has to have high density housing projects. That raises population density across the state. People move in and out of towns without putting down roots, do not socially identify with others in the community.

“Well, that’s the long gone past. ” Do think tearing down statues of Confederate soldiers is needed a century and a half after the Civil War? How about reparations paid by people based on their race and ignoring the fact their ancestors came to this country post 1865?

    WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
    By Councilman Rev. Ruben Diaz
    18 District, Bronx

    MY OPPOSITION TO THE
    NONCITIZENS TO VOTE

You should know that on December 9, 2021, a vote is scheduled to take place in the New York City Council that could allow 800,000 noncitizens to vote in local elections in our city, including the race for Mayor, Comptroller, Public Advocate, and City Council.

This is a dangerous and misguided effort being made by some elected officials to overlook the law which offers citizens – not noncitizens – in New York City, the right to vote.

Ladies and gentlemen I fully support our immigrant community, but I also respect our laws and cherish my privilege as an American citizen to vote. I encourage all New Yorkers to pay close attention to what is going on here. I don’t believe that this proposal will hold up in court if it is passed by the City Council, so stay tuned.

If you were a confused citizen / Democrat and wondering, “why did the Democrats open the borders as soon as they took power?” Wide open and fully incentivized, not tested for any disease, never mind Covid during a world wide pandemic, now you know.

By any means necessary and at any cost.

  • Questioner

    Wayne:

Thank you, it is a very interesting video. I’m halfway through I take the time, even if I (actually) little of it, and watch the full hour of video. A few questions in advance:

First of all, I don’t quite understand your criticism of the NYT. Why do you say the NYT is hiding (or worse, denying) the Holocaust when in fact it has covered it in more than 1,800 articles. Sometimes very detailed.

Shouldn’t we rather ask why the American government, which had this knowledge long before the end of World War II, did (almost) nothing to save European Jews? One could, for example, have negotiated with the Germans to buy millions of Jews out in return for certain concessions and thus save their lives. What do you think?

  • Questioner

    Col Beausabre:

“Do think tearing down statues of Confederate soldiers is needed a century and a half after the Civil War? How about reparations paid by people based on their race and ignoring the fact their ancestors came to this country post 1865? ”

No, of course I don’t think so. In fact, quite the opposite. I think you misunderstood my question to Wayne a little.

When was the US supposed to do that? The “Final Solution” wasn’t approved until the Wansee Conference of January 20, 1942, by which time the US and Germany were at war. Do you think the US would have propped up the German economy by transfer of gold reserves to the German Central Bank? And think of the logistics involved in moving such a mass of humanity across the Atlantic in the spring and summer of that year. Do you think that Germany or anyone else was going to put the war on hold? The Germans were trying to strangle Britain inro submission by having their wolfpacks sink the trans-Atlantic convoys and German subs were ravaging ships in coastal US waters – often in sight of land – in “The US Navy’s Greatest Defeat in Its History”

“The “Second Happy Time” lasted from January 1942 to about August of that year and involved several German naval operations, including Operation Neuland. German submariners named it the “Happy Time” or the “Golden Time,” as defense measures were weak and disorganized, and the U-boats were able to inflict massive damage with little risk. During this period, Axis submarines sank 609 ships totaling 3.1 million tons. This led to the loss of thousands of lives, mainly those of merchant mariners, against a loss of only 22 U-boats. Although fewer than the losses during the 1917 campaign of the First World War, those of this period equaled roughly one quarter of all ships sunk by U-boats during the entire Second World War.”

  • Questioner

    Col Beausabre:

Thank you very much for your answer. I will not go into your list of acts of war between America and Germany because it does not really help to answer my very legitimate question about the fate of the Jews. There are always two sides to a coin, since there have certainly been attacks and actions on the US side. I think rather that we have to keep an eye on the big picture here.

Hitler was very evil (and he ended up doing unforgivably evil things), which we all agree on, but he wasn’t an idiot. But on the contrary. The fact is that the behavior of the Western allies – America in particular – had a huge impact on his behavior and could have moderate it. In particular, he hoped to reach an agreement with the West. It is also a fact – contrary to many myths (sorry Wayne) that Hitler had no plans of conquest in the West, but rather that all his interests were directed towards the East and against communism. Rather, he always sought – as I said – an understanding with the West, especially with England (even in a state of war), of which he was a great admirer what many knows.

I think we can say with certainty that the refusal of the western allies to speak to Hitler in any form (including, of course, in times of mutual warfare) or to recognize him in any form as a negotiating and interlocutor, and the decision to communicate to him no other solution as the total annihilation of his regime or of Germany, of course, had to contribute significantly to its radicalization, including its most important follow that we mourn today – the annihilation of the European Jews.

The NY legislation to change the voting rights of residents will pass.

It is being changed to the same thing many states already do.

Its basically the power of a single changed word in law. They are just changing the wording of the state law from citizen to resident. then changing the definition of resident to anyone who has resided in the area for 30 days.
Most places only require proof of residency. No time limit. And the proof is not a state issued ID but something as simple as a utility bill in their name.

The real tricky part is in how your local area handles actual voting. Do they place local state and federal ballots on separate pieces of paper or do they just hand out one big monolithic ballot that covers everything and trust to the “resident” to not vote in the state wide and federal measures.
Computers do not know the difference when they tabulate the votes.

    P:

In the last election the people spoke in regards to issues like non citizens voting:

    1. Proposition 1 would gut the state’s Independent Redistricting Commission, which was broadly approved by voters in 2014, thus allowing a return to more partisan gerrymandering. It would also enshrine a provision in the state Constitution to include undocumented immigrants in district counts, permanently giving urban areas (that often vote Democratic) more representation than rural areas that are already feeling marginalized.

    2. Proposition 3 would allow same-day voter registration, opening the door to fraud.

    3. And Proposition 4 would legalize universal voting by mail throughout New York state. That the least-secure form of voting, as even The New York Times has acknowledged. Anyone who dares call out these shenanigans as corrupt is falsely labeled anti-(small “d”) democratic — when the truth is just the opposite.

All rejected by the voters, but the Democrat machine wants and desperately needs the numbers pouring across the borders ILLEGALLY be counted and have a say in government through having a vote. Conveniently introduced Covid, mail in voting, the most fraud ridden manner of voting, and generally not recognizing established law regarding the vote is the Democrats plan for the future. Which is exactly what cost Trump the election.

The Democrats are the enemy of the people, they are and promote racism, they promote hate and division and they are in the process of stealing everyone’s freedom by destroying the country and the Constitution. That is their plan and you, me and everyone else is going to pay for it and like it.

Brought to us all by the Democrat party machine and their handlers and their aspirations:

    Questioner–
    just briefly–
Germany declared war on the United States and thus sealed their fate.
The Japanese attacked the United States, and thus sealed their fate.

  • Cotour

I just read this regarding the World Economic Forum’s vision for the future of planet earth starting in about 2030.

“1. All products will have become services. “I don’t own anything. I don’t own a car. I don’t own a house. I don’t own any appliances or any clothes,” writes Danish MP Ida Auken. Shopping is a distant memory in the city of 2030, whose inhabitants have cracked clean energy and borrow what they need on demand. It sounds utopian, until she mentions that her every move is tracked and outside the city live swathes of discontents, the ultimate depiction of a society split in two.”

And I have no problem with rational and reasonable change, things change, that is a given. But their must be reasonable consent given for reasonable changes over time. These things must not be imposed from on high as is the nature of the Left.

I recently was studying Ghengis Khan and the goat herders that sacked and killed everyone, and thought, how similar.

The “Softer” people who lived in the more civilized agrarian cities were forced to build walls around their cities because the wandering goat herders, who were tough as hell, did not respect them and were seen as being weak and I suppose a threat to their wandering ways.

Genghis Khan and his hoards would pour into a city and kill all males “That stood higher than the butt of a whip”, rape the women and make them slaves. He invaded Bagdad, and he invaded China and everything in between, no one was safe. The hoards and Khan in particular as I understand it was the incentive to build the great wall of China.

He would pile bodies by the tens of thousands high.

And THAT, given the nature of man when he believes he has a cause is exactly where things will go again. Whether it be from the perspective of the “Hoards” who live outside the Tony lives of techno luxury of the elite within the cities of the future, or it be from the perspective of those entitled elites within those imagined Tony techno cities.

Both will tend to want to kill their foes en masse, just like Ghengis Khan, those who they see as the existential threat to their good lives.

And that in the long term is what I see as being the result of the World Economic Forum and their plans for the planet.

What’s old is new. This is the nature of man, only this time it will be accomplished with micro chip technology, satellites, Three D printers, the wireless internet, bio tech surveillance, gene manipulation, “Free energy”, “Voting” in a “Democracy”, maybe even nuclear weapons? And of course the seen and unseen application of Strategy Over Morality (S.O.M.) to justify it all.

And that in my estimation is what is being set up here.

Klaus Schwab, head of the World Economic Form, your new owner. The “NEW” Ghengis Khan by necessity? By choice?

    Mr. Z .:

I find your statement to be self-righteous, unjust and wrong. You may recall: Wayne brought up this interesting topic with allegations against the NYT that are clearly unfounded, as the newspaper published more than 1,800 articles on the persecution of European Jews. It opened my eyes to how well informed the American government really was, which did not much on the topic.

After that, I just drew the inevitably correct logical conclusion and dared to say that it was not particularly important for the American government at the time to save the European Jews, what is shameful.

In contrast to you: I am of the opinion that everything must be done, including concessions to the perpetrator, to mitigate the great evil that would inevitably occurs and even to prevent it, if the evil caused by the concessions are the much smaller.

Your accusation that I am a repressive supporter of Covid measures is shamefully wrong and hurtful, which shows that you have not read anything of my many comments on the current totalist developments in Europe as a result of the Covid plandemic (in contrast to Cotour and Wayne). In fact, it’s just the opposite. I am part of the resistance against the diabolical plans to change society with the help of the Covid plandemic.

fyi sidenote– if you want to go deep on Nietzsche, I find Jordan Peterson to be an excellent ‘explainer,’ it’s complex stuff but he does a good job.

Along with reading the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, I’d recommend this:

Col Beausabre pointed out: “… German subs were ravaging ships in coastal US waters – often in sight of land – in ‘The US Navy’s Greatest Defeat in Its History’

The Navy got little help from the U.S. public. Although blackouts were common in cities in the west, because of fear of another Japanese attack, the Eastern Seaboard was not as concerned, perhaps because Germany didn’t have aircraft carriers, so blackouts were less common. Thus, ships and convoys were visible in shadow as they left their well-lit ports, making for easy pickings for the U-boats.

Robert Zimmerman noted: “The Germans did the genocides. The Germans took the world into war. The Germans. No one else. Hitler led them, but they jumped in with both feet.

An excellent point, and a history lesson that We the People should learn. Hitler became a German hero by ending the Weimar Republic’s printing press and resulting inflation. The German people were so grateful that they became willing to follow him into far too much, notwithstanding much grumbling and several assassination attempts (see the movies “Valkyrie” and “13 minutes” for three examples).

We Americans are at great risk of following in similar footsteps, now that much of the U.S. Constitution is being ignored and violated by similar Marxists, who also seek scapegoats, such as the unmasked or the unvaxxinated. Or the light skinned people, who Obama declared racist by virtue of their genes. If America falls, what would it take to rid ourselves of a similar “Hitler?”

I blame WWII on the French.

    You should know why.
