Nuclear’s biggest problem is image as the following quote from Nature outlines:

The risk may be even greater at Fukushima. “I’ve never seen PTSD questionnaires like this,” she says of a survey being conducted by Fukushima Medical University. People are “utterly fearful and deeply angry. There’s nobody that they trust any more for information.”

Essentially the psychological damage being done from the nuclear industry and government failing to properly communicate the actual risks may be *greater* than that of the radiation itself.
