As for the political spin the science-types are now engaging in, on a more regular basis– I attribute this to ignorance, arrogance, and an agenda at play.

If I have this correctly; it took a relatively (pun intended) short time between Einstein’s General Theory and Hubble’s original proposition (1915 to the 1930’s) and then it took another 50 years to achieve an order of magnitude in precision for the expansion rate. I hardly think they are done with the task.
