Robert, can we agree on some basic facts before we consider such analogies to “McCarthyism”?

Parler and the majority of its users were falsely accused of insurrection and conspiracy. Joining discussions on Parler did not and does not mean that a commenter is supporting acts against the United States and its Constitution even if someone else on the platform did.

We agree that it is idiotic to say so and making such claims identifies today’s totalitarians in their effort to subvert the Constitution, shut down free speech and usurp control of our society.

CPUSA and its members, on the other hand, were NOT falsely accused of conspiring with a foreign power against the United States. The American Communists Party by its very definition acknowledged the supremacy of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Nobody could become a member of the CPUSA without declaring loyalty to the USSR, its Communist Party and the Moscow controlled Comintern, and promising to advance their goals and aims as directed, publicly or clandestinely. Party discipline was an absolute requirement and members who violated it were subject to intra-Party investigations, reprimands and ultimately purged.

American Communists did and do intend to subvert the Constitution, shut down free speech and usurp control of our society.

Making false analogies to “McCarthyism” smears American patriots of the 40s and 50s era. It perpetuates leftist myths and validates the Left’s falsified version of history.
