Turkey to sign Artemis Accords

NASA today announced that Turkey will become the 71st nation to sign the Artemis Accords at a signing ceremony on August 31, 2026 at NASA headquarters in Washington.
The map to the right shows all the European nations which have signed the accords in blue, which in turn demonstrates how Russia’s aggressive behavior to its neighbors both now and when it was the Soviet Union has done wonders to bring all of Europe to our side. The full list of nations in this American space alliance is as follows:

Anent the map, Belarus is likely to stay gray until Russia goes out of business. Kaliningrad, though, may go well before that, joining either Poland, Lithuania or being split between both. Ditto Moldova once it officially rejoins Romania. That leaves a subset of the Balkan shards of the erstwhile Yugoslavia. I expect to see them accede, one at a time, over the next few years.
