I used to raise hamsters. They are amazing creatures, but prefer their solitude rather than socializing in groups. Rats, on the other hand, tend to be more social animals and can develop depression if they are alone.

My daughter had a hamster when she was younger. We had one of those plastic hamster-balls so the little guy could navigate the living room without undo attention from the Cat.
Long story short-- those hamster-balls are not 100% cat-proof.

Blair--
ref your rodent problem--don't let things get out of hand!

I am trying to get rid of rats on the property, so the first thing I see on BtB is a rodent staring me in the face.

Fun video. I had no idea hamsters could store and transport that much food. And, I can understand, popular in a cave.

"Hey, you got s spit-free nut?"

"Sure!"
