Just re-watched this classic a week ago.

My progeny are steeped in such classics, but now I pause and realize this one may have been missed.

They can sing along with Laurel and Hardy and practically recite "Who's on First". They loved "Arsenic and Old Lace". They anticipate the pie fight in "The Great Race". Hitchcock should certainly be the next chapter.

Too many great things to say about this 1959 Hitchcock directed classic so I won't even try. The then-and-now comparison is an interesting idea. How things change, some more than others. Only briefly covered is the scene where Thornhill (Cary Grant) is forcibly intoxicated, excessively, and pushed into a car with no brakes to drive on a dangerous road on Long Island (actually California). The camera special affects of producing the blurry double vision is amazingly well done. What does that California road look like now?
The very last scene of the passenger train entering the tunnel is immediately preceded by the action of Thornhill lifting Eve Kendall (Eva Marie Saint) into the sleeping bunk of their passenger cabin on the train. The insinuation is less than subtle.
Thank you, Wayne
