The thing about Roger Waters is ... I think an objective assessment has to credit him as the unstable genius who was principally (but not solely) responsible for the band's great run of artistic and commercial success from 1971-79, just as Syd Barrett was the massively unstable genius principally (but not solely) responsible for Floyd's stunning debut in PIPER AT THE GATES IF DAWN.

Roger was a bigger jerk and bigot and much harder to sympathize with than Gilmour. But the truth is, after Waters left, Pink Floyd resembled nothing so much as a David Gilmour solo project. Which isn't BAD, but....it ain't Pink Floyd.

I have always liked David Gilmour. I think Roger Waters is a genius, but he's an antisemitic jerk. And anyone who can't seem to get along with an antisemitic jerk is okay in my book.
