    I remember as those ports were created.

    I also remember the internet before there were search engines and we had to input the addresses by hand from a large bound book we reprinted each month.

    No security and the only messaging was terminal to terminal messages if you knew the code.
    It was great to monitor someones terminal in some other university and start sending them messages on the screen like you were the computer talking to them. New students were so fun.
