Former Obama Education Secretary calls for school boycott over gunsI actually agree with him! The former Secretary of Education from the Obama administration, Arne Duncan, is calling for parents to pull their kids from public schools until the “gun laws are changed to make them safe.”
Personally, if I had children I would have never allowed them to attend any of today’s public schools, not because of gun safety but because they do a worse than horrible job of teaching kids anything.
Moreover, educating your kids either in a private school or at home gives you a much better chance of protecting them. At home you can be armed. Private schools have more flexibility, and will more likely include armed teachers if that’s what the parents want.
Public schools, and the unions that run them, not so much. I really do hope Duncan’s boycott catches on. It will give us a chance to shut down the failing public schools and replace them with competing organizations that actually get the job done.

Mr. Z. Thank you for supporting home schooling! We taught our 11 children right thru high school. It was tough but worth every minute,bevery dime. Thanks gain!
I also must express my appreciation. We pulled our second grade student from public school four years ago because a social worker called us after our daughter got on the ground and pretended to be an inch worm. This social worker actually said she had to be tested. We asked what for and she said “mental constitution”. Nope! We’ve been homeschooling her ever since and she is 11 and in the honors society. Brilliant and creative and they whould have smashed it like the bug she was pretending to be.

I agree with Dick Morris who said a few weeks ago, “The single most cost effective action we could undertake would be to install metal detectors in all public schools . about $500 a pop’. Airlines been doing it for a long time now, seems to be a generally reasonable deterrent. Far more productive than adding to the more than 20 thousand gun laws on the books.

But what his slavering fans in the liberal media won’t tell you is that Duncan’s wife works at and his own children attend the exclusive, private University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in tony Hyde Park, which a Lab Schools brochure brags is “patrolled by the University of Chicago Police Department and private security.”
Armed, of course, for thine and thee, Arne. But not for we.

As Obama’s meddling power-hungry education secretary, Duncan attacked “white suburban moms” and their children who turned to homeschooling in protest of the top-down Common Core “standards”/testing/data-mining program. Duncan sneered that he found it “fascinating” that the grass-roots anti-Common Core revolt came from “white suburban moms who — all of a sudden — their child isn’t as brilliant as they thought they were, and their school isn’t quite as good as they thought they were.”
It has been a long time since I thought our public schools were any good at providing an education.
