Biden-Harris campaign staffers test positive for COVID-19

Two campaign staffers in the Biden-Harris presidential organization have now tested positive for COVID-19.

Kamala Harris has suspended in-person events until Monday after two campaign staffers tested positive for COVID, reports the Associated Press. Harris was supposed to travel to the battleground state of North Carolina on Thursday.

The campaign insists that Joe Biden was not exposed to the virus, but he and Senator Harris spent several hours together last week while campaigning in Arizona. According to the report, Kamala’s communications director and a traveling staff member tested positive after that trip.

My purpose in reporting this really very non-news story is to make two points:

One: Despite so-called strict regimens to protect its campaign people from getting infected, including masks, social distancing, and any number of other procedures now popular in our fear-crazed society, none worked. The infection still arrived, as such infections are guaranteed to do.

Two: No one will die from this outbreak. In fact, it is not even clear anyone will get sick. The Wuhan virus does not kill healthy people. Like the flu, the worst it does is make a healthy person sick for a week or so, after which they recover completely and return to normal life.

We need to stop being so afraid of this virus. It is not the boogie-man it is made out to be, no matter what some people say. It is a variation of the flu, worse for the old who are already very sick, but more harmless for the young and the healthy. With that knowledge in mind we should focus on protecting that very narrow threatened population, while letting everyone else return to a normal life that involves no masks, no social distancing, and above all, no fear.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

“It is a variation of the flu”

The morphology and genetics are quite different between the Flu and Corona viruses. However, the effects are quite similar as you pointed out. I got corrected by my live in pathologist when I made the same point as you, Bob.

  • Phill O: I am always referring to the effects, not the more “under the hood” scientific differences. And when it comes to the general population, the effects are really the only thing that matters.

I “survived” the Wuhan virus just fine, though I’m in my late fifties, obese, sedentary, and have high blood pressure. I’ve frankly had colds that were a lot worse, but the the virus (or rather the government’s RESPONSE to the virus) has been financially devastating to my family. I figure that I’ll end up working another five years longer before I can retire due to this mess.

I fully endorse the idea of people getting out there and taking one for the team by becoming infected, recovering, and adding to our herd immunity. The people who are more vulnerable to the ravages of the virus should take whatever precautions they want and can, but their best chance of avoiding the sickness in the long run is for the rest of us to become immune. The vast majority of “healthy” people like me should be allowed to get out there and get on with their lives.

Oh, and it sucks that I still have to wear a mask everywhere I go in public. Oh well, best to follow the “science”.

Something I learned in Junior High over sixty years ago. Apparently, our “Great and Good” are too busy to read the classics. Spend an evening with Poe’s “The Masque of Red Death”

    Robert,

    Here is an interesting website
    https://data.cms.gov/stories/s/COVID-19-Nursing-Home-Data/bkwz-xpvg/

The number of nursing home deathes due to Covid-19 as of 10/04 is 59,626! Out of a total of 200,000+!

How did these people contract this deadly disease when confined to a nursing home? From the HEALTHCARE workers that are supposed to take care of them!

30% of the total deathes in the US were due to incompetence of healthcare industry and we are supposed to believe what the order us to do with no questions.

  • Doug Booker: Most revealing. Thank you. I wonder how many non-nursing home deaths were still among the elderly sick, in hospitals or hospice. Since the average age of all COVID-19 deaths is 78, I suspect almost all.

To be fair, Joe Biden might die if he caught it.

Which I don’t want. I pray for my enemies’ redemption and the destruction of their evil plans and works. When they go to stand before the Lord is his and his alone.

Thank you by the way Mr. Zimmerman for your Covid posts. I know at one point you felt like you were only preaching to the choir, and while that may be true, reading your posts about the truth and seeing that there are others out there who hadn’t fallen into this madness got me through the worst of these times.

Bob; me too but I am advised that the “under the hood” science determines the efficacy of a vaccine. The corona viruses are a more difficult kettle of fish. That being said, I take my hat of to the virologists who are working through these problems.

  • Gene Shipp

Those two must have been undercover conservative operatives working for Harris’ campaign. Democrats don’t catch covid – they feel under the weather for a couple days.
