Congressional Republicans give more money to agencies Trump wanted to eliminate

Failure theater: Congressional Republicans, rather than agree with Trump’s proposal to eliminate dozens of government agencies, have instead upped their budgets.

And the elitists in Washington wonder why Trump won the election.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Drain the swamp. It will take longer than 8 years, but it must happen.

Who knew the swamp was so big? (except most of us)

The last time a federal agency was “eliminated” to my knowledge was in the 1980s. The Rural Electrification Agency was “eliminated” by rolling it lock, stock and barrel, including administrative overhead, into the Department of Agriculture. It still, in fact, exists, it was just renamed.

To quote Pres. Reagan, “Nothing is more permanent than a temporary Federal program.”

And now we hear from the other side.

I do not think that I have ever heard a more nothing, uninspiring and vapid speech than this Charles Schumer “Better deal” speech, in the Democrats attempt to once again make themselves relevant with some kind of message. Schumer promises to raise everyone’s wages, among other things, has no idea how one might accomplish such a feat, but he throws it out their, sounds good. He might as well have promised that every should live to 200 years old and all would be guaranteed 5 times the poverty level income. Why not? Sounds good.

Schumer, the head Borg master, thats one thing you have to give him he is the best at keeping the Borg mentality in force within his party. His problem is that not everyone in the country are Borg. He is so uninspiring and so vanilla and vacant of relevant agendas that the American people care about that his efforts only appeal to that interior audience. To the outside of Washington power structure he sounds exactly like he sounds.

Democrats, Liberal / leftist Democrats as far as I can see may be an endangered species. Maybe if they actually dialed back their leftist agendas they might be able to recover to some degree. Nah, does not appear to be going to happen. And that’s OK with me.

Those who govern like to think that they have control over natural phenomena such as economics and physics.

In California, a couple of decades ago, a law was passed requiring that a certain percentage of a manufacturer’s cars sold in the state be “zero emission,” meaning electric, but at the same time, they were messing up the electrical supply system and not adding the power plants that would be needed to charge those cars. It seems that politicians think that electricity comes from the wall outlet, not from the power plant. They may also think that food comes from the supermarket, which would explain why California is destroying its Central Valley agriculture.

The US auto industry’s CAFE requirements failed to account for physical realities as well as economic reaction by American families. When cars and their engines could not be made efficient enough, the fines on the manufacturers caused family car prices to skyrocket, including the station wagon. Instead, families resorted to the less expensive trucks category of automobile, which did not fall under the CAFE requirements, so now we have less efficient vans and utility vehicles acting as as family cars.

When politicians wonder why We the People think that they are stupid, even for morons, these are some of the reasons why. Then we elect someone new, expecting more intelligence, only to discover that he has to deal with stupid-even-for-moron politicians. It is too bad that We the People also elected those SEFM politicians — again expecting them to do as they promised when they asked for our vote.

Hmm. Maybe We the People need to wise up.

Edward: “When politicians wonder why We the People think that they are stupid, even for morons, these are some of the reasons why.”

Politician’s do not think that the people see them as stupid. They know that the people see them as smarter then they as a general rule. This is part of a natural paternal need the public has for leadership.

” Then we elect someone new, expecting more intelligence, only to discover that he has to deal with stupid-even-for-moron politicians.”

What you are interpreting in the regular / “normal” way actually needs to be seen in 180 degree different terms. Empowered politicians become political tools for one reason, reelection and their believing their own political PR. The deep love they develop for their newly acquired power is overwhelming and drives them to “compromise”. Eventually they become willing and able to compromise EVERYTHING, including their morals and principles in the name of retaining power.

So in order to fix what must be fixed we must recognize this fundamental truth about human nature and how it in general needs leadership and how it abuses power.

Think different, that is why Trump is where he is right now.

  • Edward

    Cotour,
I thought that was what I said.

Of course politicians wonder why We the People think that they are stupid. American culture is full of such references; they aren’t that out of touch. The reason that they wonder “why” is because they think of themselves as being smart because they are in office, not realizing that most people are smart enough to get their jobs without needing managers and staffs in order to get through the job interview.
