Elon Musk gets contradictory COVID-19 test results

The uncertainty of science: Because SpaceX’s founder Elon Musk had had some minor cold-like symptoms, he decided to get tested for COVID-19, and discovered that after four tests, he still had no idea whether he had it or not.

The Tesla boss and fifth-richest man in the world had initially tweeted Thursday night that “Something extremely bogus is going on” regarding COVID-19 testing. “Two tests came back negative, two came back positive. Same machine, same test, same nurse.”

…Though Musk had initially tweeted that his symptoms were “nothing unusual” and those “of a typical cold,” he gave more detail Friday morning. “Mild sniffles & cough & slight fever past few days,” he told one Twitter user who asked how he was feeling. “Right now, no symptoms, although I did take NyQuil.”

First, the results tell us that the so-called surge going on in new coronavirus cases that is panicking our Democratic Party lords and masters might very well be bogus. At a minimum we should all be more skeptical of the numbers.

Second, assuming Musk does have COVID-19, his symptoms illustrate once again how relatively harmless the virus is to healthy people. In fact, no one seems to notice that of the numbers of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in the general populace, no one seems ever to die from it. Like the flu, they are sick for a week or so, and then recover.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

If Americans feel so compelled to dwell on C19 deaths in those under the age of 70 … they should certainly insist on knowing the virus victim’s lifestyle habits.

Vegans, heavy drinkers, and overweight out-of-shape consumers of high sugar and hydrogenated and high fructose garbage food, necessarily have weaker immune systems than those who exercise and eat smart. The are ALWAYS the first to call in sick or have immune and allergy “issues” out here in the real world.

I will bet that most if not all of the deaths genuinely due to C19 in a “healthy” person in their 30s to 50s, occur in those lifestyle groups. All should DEMAND to know before crying that the sky is falling.

The whole C 19 scenario is pure lunacy in that it makes others responsible for your health. Individuals in a free society are in fact alone responsible for their own health. Keepers of livestock are responsible for the health of the animals in their care, and that is what global governments now presume to do to all of us on the word of “experts” in the medical field.

SEPARATION OF MEDICINE AND STATE is REQUIRED to live in liberty.

One of my employees tested positive and used the couple paid weeks off to get a lot done around the house. Learned yesterday that my 18 year old granddaughter tested positive and it mainly just disrupts our thanksgiving get together. Glad I’m not a panic monger or I’d be terrified.

In my company we had a Covid situation. Well at least something more than one or two people out at a time.

20 employees went to a party together. Someone in the group later tested positive. All 20 have been told to stay home for the next week until they get a negative test back.

pzat — when I read or hear stories such as yours, I think it is inevitable that this sudden forced abandonment of common sense across the globe will have equally painful consequences in the future. There is no way that the economy is just going to gurgle along merely bumpily as a result. It appears to do so now because it is subsidized. Illusions shatter when reality hits the fan.

From a psychological viewpoint, here in wildly misjudged California, the anger among folks who’ve been willing so far to be civil while remaining under house arrest in one of the most beautiful spots in the world, is starting to become palpable. A few days ago, a store owner thanked me for NOT wearing a mask. I thanked him in turn for giving me a sane sanctuary to buy gas and grocs with dignity; his place is cherished by the locals who respect liberty. They are legion, in all colors, and misfit any political classification.

Separation of medicine and state … protect the Electoral College … THOSE are the two most important items.

I wonder how Elon Musk feels about following the science, after all isn’t a C19 test a demonstration of “following the science”?

If only Wuhan were science. Instead, we are following the politics. The “science” now obeys the politicians, changing as directed by the new politically correct paradigm. Even web hosts follow the politics rather than the science:

    Janyuary is correct.
When healthcare is no longer between you and your doctor, you must petition your state or your congressman for your personal healthcare needs. (You will be placed in a waiting list according to the amount of donations you’ve given the party)
Doctors will no longer be paid by you or an insurance agent, they will be part of the bureaucracy.
Human nature is the “path of least resistance”. Doctors with tenure in the union, will spend their days on the golf course with full pay and no patients as they leave their staff take care of all paperwork and their students pretend to see the patients. (performing medical services takes risk, why put yourself at risk when you get paid anyway) sure, quotas will be necessary, but who can see more than two patients a day? We will just need more healthcare workers…
Like the cattle analogy, why waste resources on the “worn out” when there’s healthy new workers as replacement parts.

One of our outdoorsy, 40-something, college instructors, otherwise healthy, was on his back for a month last summer with Covid-19. Thus, there are exceptions. I haven’t seen Covid-19 strike my students yet, but in the last few weeks a significant increase in students quarantined because of exposure to Covid-19 positive family members has occurred.

Some boots on the ground info from Sweden ( localfluff, it would be interesting to here how things are down south)
The government have increased their lockdown recommendations, ( still no laws in place!) , More people are wearing masks on public transport. The bars and restaurants are now closing at 10pm. And that’s pretty much it.
My work has a branch in the south of Stockholm, a small store, perhaps 10 employees. They have all tested positive for the WuTang flu, and are all back at work. (Age range 25-55)
We have had a few cases at head office, the sales guys are all working from home. and as the official odd job man I have installed hand sanitizer dispensers all over the company. Otherwise, life continues as normal, and I had a wonderful evening Saturday with an old pal sharing a few beers and a couple of single malt whiskys in my local bar. I still know of no one who has died of Corona.

    Dave Williams,
Students at BYU, in Utah and Idaho, have been having Covid parties for the purpose of getting sick. Students been approached by plasma centers paying top dollar for a young healthy blood plasma paying extra if you have COVID-19 antibodies. For college students, this is a great way to earn extra cash money.
In theory, once infected, students no longer need to wear masks or social distance.
My older brother has non-Hodgkin’s lymphnoma (in recession 15 years). He has no immune system and has been receiving regular shots at the cost of $50,000 per treatment. $$$

The test itself has been shown to be iffy. Is Musk positive for Wuhan flu or is he negative? The multiple tests failed to be definitive, so where is the science? Well, if it is science then it certainly is uncertain, as Robert noted.

Instead, each positive test is reported by the news media as a new “case” of Wuhan, so Musk’s two positive tests have resulted in two of the more than a million new cases that the press is reporting. How can that be, when we don’t know whether he is really positive or not? Because the reporting is not scientific, it is political. In this case it allows one person to be two different cases, making this flu seem worse than it is and raising the level of fear in the populace.

Erykah Badu, a singer, is Wuhan positive in left nostril, butnegative in right nostril.
    https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/hip-hop/9484360/erykah-badu-coronavirus-covid-test-results/

Two tests are easier to get 50% difference (~10% chance on a 90% accurate test), but Musk’s four is harder (closer to 1% chance).

The term “case” has also been redefined in an Orwellian way. It used to mean that a person was ill enough to require medical attention, and its misuse further raises fear, because we still think of it in the old meaning. These days, the term is misused to mean a false positive — or a real positive, it is hard to say, when the empirical evidence that we have in hand shows that the common test is only 50% reliable. I have drifted from my point, which is: we don’t have a million new cases, because very few of those million people need medical attention for Wuhan — which is supposed to be so deadly that we are fearful of contracting it or spreading it — but instead most people just show symptoms of a cold. (Or were those people’s tests false positives, like Musk’s may have been, and all they have is a cold?)

The term “case” is also no longer scientific.

With so many false positives, how many of those million people actually have Wuhan and how many have colds, and how many are perfectly healthy? On the other hand, how many negative results should have been positive? Were those people, who falsely tested negative, also in need of medical attention that they are not getting, or are they only suffering from symptoms that resemble a cold, or less? Or are they not suffering any symptoms at all, and a false negative test seems to them to be correct? Those are the people who are most likely to continue running around spreading the disease, but they feel confident because they tested negative on a test that apparently is wrong half the time. Even if the test gives false negatives only 10% of the time, 10% of those tested run around, even though they continue wearing their masks, which do so little good that they are counterproductive. Then they go home, where the disease is spread most.

The tremendous uncertainties of this disease make it difficult to set rational policies, so instead we have set policies for beyond-worst-case scenarios, only to result in tremendous deaths from the very same Wuhan flu we are supposed to be saving people from, as well as other horrific “side effects” that are far, far more harmful than the original worst-case scenario, a scenario which had been for one hundred thousand deaths with no lockdowns, no shutdowns, and no masks, but with social distancing, hand washing, and travel bans from high-infection regions.

Wearing masks has serious medical consequences, especially the way they are worn in America, but they also have unintended psychological consequences, such as increasing the fear of Wuhan, making people fearful of going to hospitals for medical care.

With the original three-week shutdown, lockdown, smackdown, Great Oppression last March, the science said that we were supposed to lose only sixty thousand people to the disease, saving forty thousand lives. Instead, we extended the Great Oppression and now have reports that we lost around a quarter million (almost two hundred thousand more than we should have lost), plus few news organizations seem to be reporting on another hundred thousand lost due to the collateral damage of the “side effects.”

Where was the science to tell us to avoid all those excess deaths? Oh, that’s right, the experts and the politicians chose to not follow that science.

These may seem like rhetorical questions, but many of them need to be answered in order to make cogent arguments for good policies. Instead, we have policies that are destroying lives, livelihoods, healthcare, finances, and economies while spreading fear and isolation. With more Wuhan deaths instead of fewer, we see that our ability to combat Wuhan flu has been destroyed, too.

  • Edward

Elon Musk gets four tests and Erykah Badu gets two. Are the positive results being retaken in order to reduce the number of people living in quarantine due to false positives, or are they retaking the tests if they come back negative, in order to maximize the number of positive results?

Since every positive result is reported as a new “case,” then we can be sure that the daily reported number of new cases is exaggerated, because someone with two positive results counts as two new “cases,” and someone who gets a false positive and then some negative results is still reported as a new “case.” With bogus reporting policies such as this, our fearful leaders are making new lockdown decisions based upon corrupted data. Not only don’t we have as many cases as reported, but we don’t even have as many new infections.

No wonder more lives are lost than saved by our fearful leaders’s deadly decisions. The decisions are bad because they are bases upon bad information.
