Man beaten by antifa thugs for carrying American flag

They’re coming for you next: A man who was attacked and beaten by antifa thugs for carrying an American flag during a Portland demonstration is actually a Democrat and a Bernie Sanders supporter who was at the demonstration to show that even liberals can be patriotic Americans.

In addition to the open embrace of violence exhibited by the Antifa member, the other problem for the group, The Oregonian underscores, is that Welch was not some Proud Boy or Patriot Prayer fan, he was “one of hundreds of progressive Portlanders who had turned out to oppose the right-wing rally held at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park.”

“I didn’t come as a part of any one group,” Welch told The Oregonian. “I was just protesting outsiders coming here for their tacitly fascist event.”

“I had felt like showing that a liberal, free Portland — or any major city, really — is much more American and much more numerous and strong than any of these interloping groups,” said Welch, who the outlet notes is a registered Democrat who voted for Sanders in the 2016 primary and Hillary Clinton in the general election.

More here. Watch the video at the link. Masked thugs try to steal the flag, and when he refused to let go one smashes him on the head with what looks like a baton. Another then comes over and appears to hit him again while he lies on the ground.

I repeat: These are brown-shirted, KKK, Nazi, communist, fascist, jack-booted thugs, who will not tolerate any dissent, and hate the United States and the freedom it stands for.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

    1. Anyone who shows up to any kind of demonstration with a mask to conceal identity and is obviously carrying weapons and protective gear prepared for conflict needs to be first warned by the police that hey will be arrested if they continue to carry their weapons and do not uncover their faces. And then ALL arrested if there is violence and if they do not comply. Demonstrate all you want, yell, scream, cry, what ever you like, but there is a line. And yes, easier said than done.

These high pressure by design situations organized and executed by mostly Leftist and Right wing radical operatives needs to be dialed down and its effectiveness in intimidation short circuited. This is essentially domestic terrorism under the cover of political free speech. You know it when you see it. If there is violence arrest as many participants as possible, and prosecute them.

    2. Why would anyone show up to demonstration where it is well known that such people were going to be? I scratcheth my head.

There were lots of hippie protesters during Vietnam too, then the National Guard went and shot a bunch of them at Kent State and those protests dried right up. We need to shoot a bunch of these liberals and they will get the message and stop their fascist behaviors!

  • OM: This does it. I am suspending you for a week. I welcome everyone’s comments, but I cannot tolerate anyone advocating murder on the Behind the Black. Simply arresting these thugs, according to the law, and prosecuting them, will solve the problem. What you propose would make us as bad as them.

You are welcome to return in a week, but if you resume this behavior I will then ban you permanently.

    OM:

I am getting the distinct feeling you are being a bit sarcastic and tongue in cheek. (Just a feeling)

Its not going to go well for you.

  • hondo

    I kinda enjoyed the irony.
I’ve led a very violent life – both growing up in Brooklyn and many years in service. I can not help but see what we see today as anything but angry Blue Smurfs.

  • Dick Eagleson

    Friendly fire.

I wonder how Mr. Welch feels about being an “egg” in an “omelet” cooked up by his own side.

  • Edward

Antifa (anti First Amendment) is not anti fascism but anti American. They are so anti American that they assume that anyone carrying an American flag is their enemy. Thus, when a supposedly allied socialist Sanders supporter carries a flag, he becomes their enemy, worthy of violent attack.

At some point someone is going to have to call a spade a spade and push back with overwhelming corrective force against what are plainly anarchists and domestic terrorists.

    At some point.

These people are intimately tied to the democrats show through BC and BHO. “The Weather Underground” in 2018.

Yes action will have to be taken but taken from Habakkuk 2:
12 “Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed
And founds a town with violence!
As mentioned by BZ, by the law and through the current laws!

  • Orion314

The USA reminds me how the middle east was decades ago. Anything but peace.

  • Col Beausabre

    Orion — Anything but peace.

They don’t try to hide it – “No justice, no peace!”

And since they are allowed to get away with it, it will get worse, so the response demanded from the fed up will be not be gentle…Anybody who has ever dealt with a three year old’s tantrums know this sort of thing is best nipped in the bud – it’s easier on everyone.

And what undergirds this luxurious Liberal thought process that allows and even encourages these young and growing more and more violent “revolutionaries” their confused anti American point of view?

    https://www.cnsnews.com/commentary/terence-p-jeffrey/521-percent-kids-live-households-getting-means-tested-government

The institutionalized culture of dependency that is one of the insidious foundation planks of the Democrats and probably to a great extent the leadership of the Republican party, either willingly participated or through lack of leadership so as to be shamefully indistinguishable from the Democrats.

The political class must have dependents in order that they become empowered consistently and there is a segment of the population that has become transfixed by this political manipulation and these young political “revolutionaries” (Lower case) have been fed and housed by others for much too long to the point that they know nothing else other than “other” peoples stuff and their right to it.

Someone in the private sector is continuing to feed these operators by way of funding. These peoples lack of real jobs gives them too much time on their hands to do the work of these funders. Maybe that has to be looked into from more than just the institutional aspect right through to the private funding aspect.

Free speech certainly has is double edged nature and so the only true alternative is to engage in B’s to the wall political warfare and win. Its the only way, and that is why Trump and his B’s to the wall nature and drive to win is the way to go. Its the only thing that they will understand.

  • Cotour

And here is an example of the other end of that despicable political culture of dependency equation.

    https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-08-22/san-francisco-poop-patrollers-make-185000

The frivolous spending of the peoples tax money over paying and enriching government employees and thus ensuring the other end of the equation with certainty. Neither end of this despicable equation would dare move against the entity that enriches and feeds the. And who is left in the middle to pay for it all? Go look in the mirror, your paying for your own modern enslavement through legal confiscation and redistribution of your own wealth.

This so called “Poop Patrol” should be manned by the homeless pooper’s themselves and paid a commensurate salary to keep the streets of San Francisco clean. Stupid piled upon stupid characterized as “Compassion”.

  • pzatchok

I sort of feel sorry for him.

That is a tough way to find our your side is actually the violent fascists you thought you were fighting against.

He will start to question everything the left says now. He might not turn to the right anytime soon but he will start to question things and he might even start to talk to good people on the right seriously.

If not, then we know that even a pipe to the head can’t turn a lefty.

  • Edward

pzatchok wrote: “He might not turn to the right anytime soon …

Of course not. He has been trained his whole life to believe that the right is almost as violent as the people who attacked him. It will take time for him to realize that those the he had trusted have lied to him for his entire life. It is a five stage process, where the end is acceptance that the reverse of his lifelong training is actually the truth.

    – First stage: denial. “This can’t be happening.”
    – Second stage: anger. “Why did this happen to me?”
    – Third stage: bargaining. “I will be a better socialist.”
    – Fourth stage: depression. “I can’t go on.”
    – Fifth stage: acceptance. “The left has always embraced evil, and the right was right all along. Who knew that it was the left who advocated for slavery, Jim Crow laws, and segregation; constituted the KKK; sent out the national guard to stop school integration; opposed Civil Rights (including the Democratic President Johnson, who was politically forced into signing the Civil Rights Act and so created the U.S. welfare state in order to keep down those he called the “n” word); that the NAZIs were socialists, not right wingers; and that Martin Luther King was a Republican and was supported by fellow right wingers, that free market capitalism has brought more people out of poverty than any other economic system, and that socialism has never worked anywhere it was tried — including America?”

  • OM, or Samsa: I have restored your commenting rights, but be aware that if you even once advocate violence or bigotry I will ban you for good.

Also, in restoring your commenting rights I discovered that you have previously used a different nickname, Samsa. Pick one. I do not like people changing their nickname willy-nilly. Others should have the right to know whom they are talking to, even if you remain anonymous. In the end others have found this is the best way for encouraging a respectful and thoughtful discussion.

If you can’t do as I request, then you should go elsewhere.
