MRO photographs InSight on Mars
The high resolution camera on Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) has located and photographed InSight, its heat shield, and its parachute.
The pictures themselves are not very interesting. What is important however is for scientists to know exactly where InSight is located so they can better understand the data it sends back of Mars’ interior. They now have that information.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

It doesn’t look to me like it landed in a crater, as they were saying it had based on on-site photos.
The loss of Mars’ magnetic field
may have caused the loss of it’s atmosphere to the solar wind,
which then would cause the evaporation of it’s lakes/oceans.
The late Dr. Tom Barnes (1911-2002), Dept. of Physics, U. of Texas at El Paso
did a rigorous application of Maxwell’s equations to the metallic core and over a hundred years
of -decaying- field data, via Gauss method,
(Gauss was the first to measure the field and reduce the worldwide data to a magnetic dipole moment)
and determined the
Earth’s magnetic field is rapidly decaying -exponentially-
with a half-life of approximately 1400 years.
Barnes calculations also gave 2 proofs the decay is exponential, which refutes all dynamo theories.
The Earth’s magnetic field shields the Earth from deadly solar and cosmic radiation.
