RINOs in Senate team up with Democrats for gun control push

Senate moderate Republicans are teaming up with Democrats to propose another gun control measure, aimed at disarming Americans instead of fighting Islamic terrorism.

Senate Republicans are expected to bring a bipartisan gun control bill to a vote this week despite opposition to the measure from the National Rifle Association and other conservative groups. The measure, spearheaded by centrist GOP Sen. Susan Collins (Maine), would block people on two terrorist watchlists from buying guns.

Sources in both parties on Tuesday said the Collins legislation is gaining momentum — a sign that doing nothing to prevent terrorism suspects from obtaining guns is a problem for vulnerable Republicans in the wake of the Orlando nightclub shooting. While the NRA is opposed to the measure, Senate Majority LeaderMitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is more focused on protecting his vulnerable incumbents and keeping control of the chamber in November, according to Senate GOP sources. “He will not be dictated to,” one lawmaker said of the NRA’s efforts to pressure McConnell.

The Senate Democrat who launched last week’s filibuster on gun control depicted a vote on the Collins measure as a pivotal moment for the Senate, which on Monday rejected four other gun control bills. “I think you’re seeing in real time the vice grip of the NRA loosening in this place,” said Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.). “This is a watershed moment whether this gets to the finish line or not. You have Republicans scrambling to try to find a way to remedy their no votes [Monday] night.”

Once again, the focus of these politicians is not on solving the problem, terrorism inspired or planned by Islam, but to attack and disarm the American public, the exact opposite of what needs to be done. When you are in a war, you don’t disarm, you arm yourself.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Mark Levin: Republicans are trying to make a gun control deal with Democrats… (June 21 2016)

A bunch of manipulatable political tools, all in the process of pandering in order that they be reelected, plain and simple.

Eating lunch with an uninformed liberal tool today, he asks me “whats wrong with a list of people on the no fly list and barring them from buying a firearm?”

Not so simple, I pointed out that he was asking two questions, one on the no fly list and another on the second amendment.

He did not get it. Over and over I went explaining what the difference was, your Second Amendment RIGHT to bear arms is not dispatched by the creating of a list related to flying. Still did not quite get it.

I asked ” what was one of the first things that Hitler did when he rose to power?”

He had not a clue, never heard of such a thing (and he is a JEW!). I told him “One of the first things that Hitler did was to mandate a firearms registry. And not too soon after, confiscated all of the firearms using that same list and disarmed the Jews”. I sent him this book to buy.

Just a slice of life and an example of how and what some people’s conclusions about politics and our country are based on, incomplete understanding of history and human nature and the emotional decisions that emerge from such thinking.

They could try something that would actually make us safer. The LE community doesn’t want people on the watch lists from being banned from buying guns because it tips people off that they are being watched.

How about when someone on one of these lists buys a gun, or tries to buy a gun, the FBI gets notified. The FBI can then investigate the specific person to see if they are engaged in a plot to attack Americans.

Even if someone on one of the watch lists was banned from buying a gun, do they notify the FBI to investigate that they tried to? Guns are just one of the weapons used along with knives, bombs, cars, ect.

Rather ignoring due process and expanding these types of lists, they should just work with the FBI to flag purchases and attempted purchases for immediate investigation. That is, if they are actually concerned about making Americans safer.

This is insane. Will these gun control laws prevent someone from getting a gun? Stealing a gun? Making a gun? Borrowing a gun? Pretending to have a gun?
The only ones that have rights are those who can defend those rights. If somebody threatens your right to life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness how would you secure your rights from being taken?

I think it is obvious at this point that these gun laws are not about fighting terrorism, It is about tearing down and replacing the US Constitution (with Obamas negative liberties) to set up a new Government which favors the oligarchy. “Behold”, the new world order is here at last… The progressives from the left and right are now fighting over their positions in the new order. As they are about to reveal themselves, it would be prudent for them to remove the guns that would stop them. Revealing themselves too soon might be disastrous so it is necessary for them to step up their progressivism. Desperate times require desperate actions. After all, the ends do justify the means if you’re winning! Because winner takes all this time.

    Max,
France has very tough gun-control laws — tougher than those proposed for the US — yet she is still plagued by high-profile terrorist massacres.

  • Max

Yes Edward, there has never been a gun control law that has prevented terrorism, or crime for that matter. ( Chicago is an excellent example of how tough gun laws only prevent people from defending themselves )
Sheep are easier to control then tigers. That’s why terrorist go to France, and most of Europe, to slaughter the defenseless. In America, we have gun free zone’s that basically means “terrorist welcome” signs. Come in, defenseless sheep for the slaughter.
Lions and tigers have an even chance of killing the hunter… There is “hope”
After WWI, France removed all weapons from the public. Germany, in WWII, was held at the rine river for two weeks before capturing all of France without any more resistance. France’s army took off their uniforms and blended in to the public.
If America is talked into giving up their arms for a false sense of security, then we will no longer be in a position to help the rest of the world or ourselves. At that point those with the guns will determine our fate. A brave new world where resistance is futile… Big brother has a plan, and is about to ask you for a personal sacrifice for the greater good. And you will do it, because after your conditioning you will “love big brother” and do anything for him.
