    Caught the surprisingly heated discussion last night between you and John Batchelor—heated on his part, at least. You are correct, of course. In any issue of principle, the moral choice IS the practical one. Playing the same game of “don’t cut my program” will only result in the eventual bankruptcy of the US, and if the government does assume a role in space travel again one day, it can only come from a position of economic strength, not petty bargaining at the Capitol. I’m sure John Batchelor will not hold a grudge, but we now see that his commitment to principle and limited government is qualified at best. “Tea Party,” Indeed!
