U.S. Communist Party praises Democrats’ policy shifts

I wonder why? In preparation of its 100th anniversary, the U.S. Communist Party is heaping praise on the leftist policy shifts of the Democrat Party.

“There’s some thinking that ‘communism’ has always been a sort of bogeyman, and yet we want some of the same things,” said Harvey Klehr, a history professor at Emory College who specializes in the American left.

The connections between the Communists and the increasingly active Democratic left wing have been highlighted by Ms. Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernard Sanders, who emerged from the democratic socialist movement to become leading critics of capitalism and guiding lights of the broader Democratic Party.

That, Mr. Klehr said, is heady stuff for the Communists. “The left is very excited that Sanders has normalized socialism, and in a sense he’s doing what they wanted to do,” he said. “So now I imagine those in the CPUSA think they’re not members of the Democratic Party but they want to take it over.”

Professor Klehr sees only a “bogeyman” when he talks of communism. What I see is an ideology that killed in the past century upwards of a 100 million people, and that’s not including the Nazis, which also followed a leftist socialist agenda.

But what matters that? This time Bernie Sanders and Congresswoman Ocrasio-Cortez will get it right. They are so much wiser than us!

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

From the article: “The talk in the run-up to the conference includes questions on whether Communists should embrace Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal proposal — a resounding “yes” — and whether China finally has succeeded with the socialist experiment.

If this answer is also “yes” then we all must remember that the past four decades China finally has succeeded in moving toward free market capitalism. It is this capitalism that finally made China as successful as it has been.

“U.S. Communist Party praises Democrats’ policy shifts”

Yeah, so? I’ve heard some alt-right people think Trump is great, better than other Republican leaders, I’ve heard various idiots using the names of evil people that have endorsed this or that.
Why do you feel the need to join them down in the mud?

  • Andrew_W: I know this might be hard for you, but the point of my post was to note the similarity in policies between the modern Democratic Party and the Communists. Or haven’t you noticed? Or avoided to look?

And yes, many love to compare Trump to Hitler, but the comparison fails the instant you do any research about both. They have nothing to do with each other.

    Edward–
China utilizes State Capitalism, which is a tenet of Maoist communism.
[In Socialism: Utopian and Scientific (1880), Friedrich Engels argued that state ownership does not do away with capitalism by itself, but rather would be the final stage of capitalism, consisting of ownership and management of large-scale production and communication by the bourgeois state. He argued that the tools for ending capitalism are found in state capitalism.”]
[Murray Rothbard, an anarcho-capitalist philosopher, uses the term State Capitalism interchangeably with the term state monopoly capitalism and uses it to describe a partnership of government and big business in which the state intervenes on behalf of large capitalists against the interests of consumers. He distinguishes this from laissez-faire capitalism where big business is not protected from market forces. This usage dates from the 1960s, when Harry Elmer Barnes described the post-New Deal economy of the United States as “state capitalism”.]

wayne wrote: “China utilizes State Capitalism, which is a tenet of Maoist communism.

My understanding of state capitalism is that the state (government) owns the businesses. Around the 1980s, China began to allow independent ownership, starting with foreign restaurant chains, and it now allows ownership and investment by Chinese citizens. Citizen ownership may not yet be common, and there may still be a lot of overregulation by the central government, like the fascists did in Europe, but it is definitely a start in the direction of free market capitalism. Overall, China is not as capitalist as Hong Kong, but maybe some day …

  • commodude

    Edward,

True capitalism requires free choice to a point.

China would fall apart and devolve if that freedom was granted. A large portion of their military is strictly for internal control.

  • Edward

    commodude,
You wrote: “China would fall apart and devolve if that freedom was granted.

I think that you mean that the Communist Party would fall apart, not China the country. China seems to already be on a slow path to that freedom, and as long as it happens in a way that the government evolves to meet the new needs, then I don’t see any serious problems for the population, and the leadership should be able to adapt to the new conditions.

The question is whether it is better to ease into a new economic system, as Poland did, or to jump in with both feet, as Russia did a few years later.

(highly enjoy your commentary on all things Space & Politics)

–China is slave state. To the extent anyone practices “free market capitalism,” it’s more akin to a black market inside a prison, and the inputs/outputs are controlled by the guards and the barbed-wire.

  • commodude

No, I meant China the country. It has long been barely held together by force, and when that force is challenged, it gets ugly.

The country boasts of thousands of years of history, however, much of that is a constant struggle to maintain control. At times the country has been broken into multiple pieces ruled by various warlords, conquered and ruled by the Mongols, and the territory has waxed and waned.

Breakup and balkanization of China would not be beyond the realm of possibilities, particularly if the military had to turn its attention TRULY outward.

  • Edward

    commodude,
Ah, I see. You believe that China, like the Soviet Union, would break up into multiple countries if the people were free to do so. I understand your point and agree that is a possibility. Along with some other areas of the country, I would root for Hong Kong to become independent from China again, too.

  • Edward

    wayne,
You wrote: “Edward– (highly enjoy your commentary on all things Space & Politics)

Thank you. Most of my ideas are firm in my mind from decades of thinking them through. However, I am still seeking ways to express them clearly and completely yet succinctly.

–China is slave state. To the extent anyone practices ‘free market capitalism,’ it’s more akin to a black market inside a prison, and the inputs/outputs are controlled by the guards and the barbed-wire.

China allowed some amount of freedom through a small amount of capitalism. The impending absorption of Hong Kong meant that China was going to have to deal with free market capitalism, so they made a move in that direction, resulting in an amount of freedom. Since it is allowed by law, the black market analogy is misleading.

Robert notes in his book “Leaving Earth,” that the Soviet Union allowed some freedoms for its own population, especially in speech and expression. This was a large factor in the timing of the downfall of Soviet communism, which was already failing throughout the 1980s and probably earlier.

The Chinese may have slowed or stopped its gifts of freedom to its own people due to this contribution to the Soviet downfall, thinking that too much of the wrong kinds of freedom would lead to the end of Chinese communism, too.

Meanwhile, the Democrats keep advocating for less freedoms for the population and for more centralized controls. After the lesson of the Soviet Union, what communist would not want that?

    Edward-
I always try to read your comments. (I often regret not going into engineering myself, but I just didn’t have the necessary discipline at the time.)

You do a great job endorsing Freedom, Liberty, and the classical American Way of doing things. You’re default is always toward more freedom and free-market solutions– that’s no small thing and I for one appreciate it.

Somewhat tangential– you might enjoy Prof Russ Roberts weekly podcast, “EconTalk.” I’m sure you could find some topics that intrigue you out of his 500+ episodes. –Supported by the Liberty Fund as part of the Library of Economics and Liberty.

Referencing the Chinese– eventually, someone is going to have to kill every member of the communist ruling “elite,” in China, before any of these people have any hope whatsoever of being free.

    YOUNG, CUTE AND FULLY INDOCTRINATED

The up coming politicos, in this case in the “New” Democrat party, are young, in the case of AOC, cute, are fully indoctrinated into basically hating the America that you love based in a Marxist philosophy and fully admit that the ILLEGAL immigrant condition in our country is focused on subverting all elections in the country. In order to of course cement the Democrat party into perpetual dominance.

    https://www.dailycaller.com/2019/06/22/ocasio-cortez-illegal-immigrants-law-enforcement/

“United We Dream is a Soros-funded immigrant advocacy group whose current executive director, Greisa Martinez Rosas, said in 2017 that “white supremacist politicians” have “one goal,” to “push all people of color in jails, and into detention camps, off the voter rolls and out of our country.”

Soros funded “United We Dream” executive director, Greisa Martinez Rosas, plainly in her quote reveals the over arching strategy in the now Leftist and un American Democrat party, at least the segment that the Left has taken over. “Off the voter rolls”.

Ms. Rosas identifies what threatens their Leftist agenda, anyone who opposes them that insists on rational American centric immigration policy and law: “push all people of color in jails, and into detention camps, off the voter rolls and out of our country.” She said it, not me, I have only been pointing out the obvious.

This is what has taken over at least segment of the Democrat party, true Democrats must never support such thinking.

Yes, please keep ILLEGAL immigrants off the voting rolls at all costs. But what do we find the self interested power hungry at any cost Democrats in many states up to? Giving ILLEGALs drivers licenses, End the electoral college, 16 year olds to vote, open borders, no borders, full access of ILLEGALS to all social services and healthcare, etc, etc, all counter intuitive to Americas interests and the Constitution.

So the likes of the AOC’s and others may be young and cute but these people truly represent an dire threat to everyone in America, and that is why most rational Democrats can never support them. Democrats are an American political animal, these people are no longer fundamental Americans they are subversives and threaten us all.

  • Cotour

    FOLLOW UP:

“Democrats aren’t going to compromise their values,” the aide said. “He’s walked away from several deals on immigration. We have no illusions here.”

(And what are the Democrats current values? No borders, ILLEGAL drivers licenses, ILLEGALS voting, etc. etc., everything un and anti American)

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/22/politics/nancy-pelosi-ice-raids-house-speaker-called-donald-trump/index.html

Let no one in America self delude themselves as to what is underway here and exactly what the goals of the Democrat party exactly are. As I have listed in my previous post, the Democrats intend to subvert our system in order to acquire and retain political power perpetually.

Plain and simple, this is Strategy Over Morality in practice and they will and have told everyone that it will come if they have anything to say about it “By any means necessary”. This is the “New” and improved Democrat party.

    Democrat Party

I would put forth the proposition, every supporter of the democrat-party throughout their infamous history is either a useful-idiot, fellow-traveler, and/or possessed absolute malice-aforethought toward the destruction of our way of life.

Its the “NEW” Democratic Party” Wayne.

And it is beyond me that any reasonable American who identifies as a Democrat would possibly support any of it, even if Trump is the result.

AOC was in my neighborhood a week or so ago, was hoping she would stroll through the neighborhood and stop in, would have taken a selfie with her just to screw with my friends. Would have had an interesting conversation with her to say the least. She will be back, and I will be happy to speak with her (Not that it would do any good)

Porn cute? I don’t know, but she has got those beautiful eye brows.

It is disturbing to me how someone can be considered “educated” and come to the conclusion that Socialism, even Marxism is the best way to go forward into the future. Where do these people get their absolute commitment to their cause when it is demonstrably fraudulent. Ignorance IS bliss.

At least from the perspective of anyone at all interested in the individual and freedom and the proven fairest and most empowering method ever devised to accomplish it, the Constitution. Their argument is so fraudulent that they must lie about every inch of it in order to acquire the political power to enforce it. Fraudulent to the core, and that is perverted and dishonest and makes anyone who comes to support it as being “ugly” and “stupid”. Agreed.

  • Edward

It certainly seems to be an infinite list. I always include the Trail of Tears.

But what I really wanted to mention, in this reply, is that the Democrats have engineered a brand new coup: self-segregation. I don’t know how they did it, but they have managed to convince minorities that they need to segregate themselves; the exact opposite of half a century ago. Apparently, Democrats have finally convinced people that we really can have “separate but equal” after all and that it is preferable to integration.

With this coup, the racists can get together in exclusive groups, where they don’t have to be with “those people.”

I don’t think that the socialists and communists are generally racist, but the fascists were, and fascism is a variety of socialism.

Remember: “Since you do not love me, never mind respect me, you must be destroyed”.

Bernie seeks to buy the youth vote with other peoples money. Does not propose the restructuring of a corrupt and punitive system, but the erasing of the system where I am certain the government (You) would have to pay the balance on.

Now thats wealth redistribution by any other name, Bernie is being true to his Socialist / Communist nature. All of the Democrat candidates for president are officially un and anti American, the party against America.

    Ultimately that is going nowhere.

  • Cotour

A possible indicator for the national presidential election?:

Tomorrow there will be a special election for District Attorney in the borough of Queens. And this woman is running for the office, Tiffany Caban. Tiffany is the choice of AOC and has been endorsed by her.

    https://www.cityandstateny.com/articles/politics/campaigns-elections/endorsements-queens-district-attorney-candidates.html

As soon as the likes of former Police Commissioners Bernie Kerik and Bill Bratton spoke against her and her “No bail” leaning for most accused offenders, the New York Times and other “Progressive” / now Leftist supporting publications of course endorsed her.

So this will be an interesting contest between the more traditional law and order candidates and the “New” Democrat Socialist type. Queens is a very diverse and multicultural / middle class incubator borough within NYC and the result will without doubt be interesting.

    Here’s another little ditty.

I was listening NPR this morning while driving to the bank. NPR really is informative and interesting in its perspective. And I find that the manner in which it is recorded and presented is a form of mind control, I can only listen to it for a limited time. I do not know exactly what it is that they do either in style or technologically but there is something going on there besides reporting the different story’s that they present. The monotone “Intelligent” nature of it?????

I was listening to a woman being interviewed, I believe she was from L.A.. Her perspective?

She is homeless, lives on the street and / or in motels, and is concerned that she and her boy friend AND HER 5 CHILDREN have to worry about their food resources in a country as rich as America is.

Am I missing something here? It must be me but in my world at some point the amount of “love” that you are willing to bestow on the world should have some limitations on it based on your ability to somewhat support that “love”. Its probably just me though.

Yes, the Queens DA election will be interesting tomorrow, we will see if AOC’s 2 or 3 million Twitter followers mean anything in the politics of the day and her being a loud but empty Leftist / Marxist vessel. I know this must make you home sick. Accent on “sick”.

    ALL MANIPULATION ALL THE TIME

Unhappy? Maybe you should become a Conservative?

    https://youtu.be/9txz6_61QnI

“Actually Liberals have more wealth than Conservatives”.

The argument presented by the Marxist likes of Bernie Sanders and company is “The 1 percent has more than everyone else!”.

And I say, so what, I do not care. The extension thinking becomes, because I am not a billionaire and billionaires exist then I can never be happy because of that inequity? Ridiculous.

What about existing in the 99 percent of all other potentials that exists in America? No, the Liberals / Leftist model demands that all must be destroyed because of this inequity that exists. An inequity that no one that is disturbed by it could rise to accomplish anyway. So the logic becomes that everyone must be poor and equal and anyone who rises above that is a threat to that model.

And that is the sick thinking that consumes the Liberal mind, and its a waist of time.

An entirely anti and un American thought process and logic. And this of course is in my opinion just a psychological political manipulation in order to fulfill a political agenda. In other words a fraud that is perpetrated on a segment of the population that is susceptible to such jealous and self defeating and victim mentality thinking.

  • Cotour

Bernie Sanders dominates and shows how its done, he teaches a speed bag who’s the boss. BONK!

    https://youtu.be/aQf092ZE6qg

Just one more of the many reasons that Bernie will not ever be the president of the United States. IMO he, like all of them, are just piling money into his campaign fund to the tune of millions in order to fund his Foundation. And if he does not have one he soon will in order to confiscate his donors funds and funnel them into his and his remaining employees pockets in the form of overhead and salaries as they “solve” the problems of the world in their “Progressive” social justice think tank.

The three leading Democrat contenders: Biden, IMO will be out and “spending time with his family” or out due to health issues long before the primary. Bernie Sanders, Communist and in training for his MMA death match debut, although he may already be dead. What more is there to say? And, Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren, lilly white “American Indian” and racial fraudster and scolding school marm. How would you like hearing her in the media everyday for 4 years? All going nowhere.

Like all of the Democrats looking to become the president they are ALL second and third string players.

    Not a leader among them.

    LETS TALK ABOUT “DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM”

Here, Van Jones (Obama administration Communist czar), tells Anderson Cooper that he is disappointed that Bernie failed in communicating the virtues of EU style (Globalist) “Democratic Socialism” in the debate last night. (Understand: In the EU / Globalist world model there is no more America as formulated and its pesky Constitution, totally incompatible)

    https://dailycaller.com/2020/02/26/van-jones-bernie-sanders-failed-socialism-democratic-debate-south-carolina/

Definition: Democratic Socialism: Democratic socialism is a political philosophy supporting political democracy within a socially owned economy, with a particular emphasis on workers’ self-management and democratic control of economic institutions within a market socialist economy or some form of a decentralised planned socialist economy.

Notice the extensive use of the word “Socialist” in the definition of the term “Democratic Socialism”? Q: Why is that? A: Because its Socialism! Repackaged, massaged and prettied up for general confused American voter consumption, but Socialism all the same. (American Democrats and Liberal Democrats, you are not Socialists! These media and political operatives are attempting to sell “Socialism Light” to the American public. Americans already participate in Democracy and we reject Socialism. Social programs yes. Socialism, NO. Make the distinction.)

This continuing psychological word game that the Leftist / Socialist operatives in American media and American politics that constantly promote it and also use terms like it such as “Progressive” are all simply, overtly and purposefully misleading and it is fraudulent. Their is in media and Leftist politics a constant attempt to sell these terms and anti American governmental structures to the American people, specifically to those who are now so confused and disillusioned and are now untethered to a strong philosophical political foundation due to the disarray and total bankruptcy of the Democrat political party and their fraudulent leadership.

American Democrats and Liberal Democrats, hold on and do not allow yourself to be lulled into accepting these Leftist operatives fraudulent terminology and anti American governmental structures. These philosophical Communists and Leftists have been waiting and laying the ground work for this opportunity to take over that the chaos and failure of the Democrat party leadership to take it over for decades provides. Let us not be naive.
