U.S. military turns to private sector for its satellite communications needs

Now, was that so hard? The U.S. military is turning to the private sector to fill its satellite communications needs.

    This isn’t big news. As the article mentioned “..The U.S. government currently leases about 80 percent of its communications capacity from commercial sources..”. It was the Mil that became the biggest market for Iridium service.

    The one big issue the Mil has had, is that commercial sats are not hardened against natural assaults like strong solar flares, much less against deliberate attacks.
