One minute changes a life forever
An evening pause: Instead of music, let’s watch a man’s life change forever, for the better, in only one minute. And forgive me for saying so, but it is freedom, property rights, and capitalism that allowed it to happen.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News
It’s ironic that this man says he’s never had anything in his life. He did have forebears (bless ’em) who valued the blanket highly enough to insure that no harm came to it for 150 years or more, when it came into his possession. Heartwarming story!
That was quite a story! I don’t know if he did or not, but if it had been me, I think I would have donated some of the money to some worthy cause that benefits the Navajo tribe, just as a thank you to the nameless weaver so long ago who gave him a chance for a new life.
Whenever I need a pick-me-me, like this wonderful story, I youtube Milton Friedman on the Phil Donahue Show talking about free markets and capitalism and the good that has benefited every society that has embraced property rights.
