This is from “Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus,” filmed in mid-December of 1968. Features the last live appearance of Brian Jones, who would die within 7 months. Mick was unhappy with the quality of the 2-day filming, and this wasn’t officially released until 1996.
I would put forth; the version of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” they perform, is probably their best live version in a small setting.
It gets more interesting. The Stones were playing Sympathy for the Devil at Altamont in 1969 when violence erupted between Hell’s Angels who were providing security and the crowd. One dead, another 3 accidental deaths, numerous injuries and stolen vehicles. A really infamous concert. Cheers –
