Readers!

The time has come for my annual short Thanksgiving/Christmas fund drive for Behind The Black. I must do this every year in order to make sure I have earned enough money to pay my bills.

For this two-week campaign, I am offering a special deal to encourage donations. Donations of $200 will get a free autographed copy of the new paperback edition of Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, while donations of $250 will get a free autographed copy of the new hardback edition. If you desire a copy, make sure you provide me your address with your donation.

As I noted in July, the support of my readers through the years has given me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.

In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.

Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:

4. Donate by check, payable to Robert Zimmerman and mailed to

But will loyal Democrats actually abandon their beloved party? History says no

The Democratic Party: Given decades of blind loyalty by its supporters
The Democratic Party: Decades of blind loyalty
by its supporters

This week the publication Issues and Insights had a poll taken of registered Democrats to garner some idea of their overall opinion of the Democratic Party’s sudden back-room deal to dump Joe Biden as presidential candidate and replace him with Kamala Harris. The poll asked whether those polled agreed or disagreed with these three statements:

  • The process the Democratic Party used to select its nominee for President did not yield the strongest candidate.
  • The process the Democratic Party used to select Kamala Harris as its nominee was undemocratic.
  • I lost significant faith in the Democratic Party because it did not disclose Biden’s health issues during the primary process.

For Democratic Party politicians, the results should be disheartening at best. A significant majority of the 1,240 registered Democrats polled agreed with all three statements, with 58% agreeing strongly or somewhat with the first statement, 52% agreeing strongly or somewhat with the second statement, and 54% agreeing strongly or somewhat with the third statement. As noted by Scott Pinsker of PJMedia in analyzing the results:

We’re beginning to detect the very early rumblings of a Democratic Party revolution. These are voters who never really liked Joe Biden, but amidst COVID, they tired of Trump and took their party at their word. Then, when Harris, Pelosi, Schumer and the rest assured us that Biden was still as sharp as a tack, they accepted it as Gospel. Later, when Harris was appointed undemocratically, they went along with it, too — holding their nose and ignoring the skyrocketing inflation, economic weakness, and atrocious housing market. Gotta take one for the team to “save democracy,” after all.

These voters have done absolutely EVERYTHING their party has asked of them. And they paid a price for it, too.

So, when the Democratic Party rewards their loyalty with a landslide loss, how do you think they’ll take it?

That’s probably a question the Democratic Party leaders should start pondering now — before the natives grow restless.

I think Pinsker and the poll misses the mark. To find out what its base truly thinks of the Democratic Party. these registered Democrats should have been presented with a fourth statement to agree or disagree with:

  • I remain loyal to the Democratic Party and will still vote for its presidential candidate.

You see, it was very easy for these polled Democrats, who always view themselves as nuanced, educated, and open-minded, to agree with the condemnatory nature of the first three statements. In this sense no one should be surprised by the poll results. The Democrats behaved dishonestly in nominating Biden, and then acted like banana-republic back-room dealmakers in dumping him for Harris. This is on its face very obvious, and you would have to be blind, deaf, and dumb not to admit it.

The results from that fourth unasked statement however would have told us whether this bad behavior by Democratic Party power-brokers was bad enough to change some votes. I suspect it was not.

You see, what has been impossible to get registered Democrats to do is abandon that party, no matter how foolish, corrupt, racist, and oppressive its policies have been. The Democratic Party has been able to count on solid unquestioning loyalty from its base for decades. Nothing its politicians do makes a difference. They could support Hamas and its massacre and rape of babies and little children, and these Democratic voters will still vote for those politicians. They could refuse to prosecute criminals in Democratically-controlled inner cities, allowing a crime wave of unprecedented proportions to destroy those cities, and still these Democrats will vote for these politicians. They could bankrupt the country by sending aid to a foreign government, and it would not matter. Nor would it matter if these same politiicans used money reserved for American disaster victims to provide welfare to illegal aliens, whom these same politicians allowed to enter illegally.

They could even support letting boys leer at girls in girl’s bathrooms and locker rooms, while advocating the mutilation and castration of children, and registered Democrats would still support this party unwaveringly.

Time after time Democrats in power have supported and imposed similar foolish and sometimes very corrupt policies, frequently in direct opposition to the interests of the nation and its citizens, and ordinary Democratic Party voters would still vote for them blindly, sometimes simply because they are filled with hatred of the Republican Party, and will never vote for it because they see it as evil and “fascist and no different than Adolf Hitler,” as Kamala Harris herself said yesterday most absurdly about Trump.

The Democratic Party's voting base
The Democratic Party’s long time voting base

To determine whether a real revolt is about to occur in the Democratic Party we needed to know if the coup that replace Biden with Harris was enough to get Democrats to abandon their party, in significant numbers. Sadly the poll did not answer that question. If anything, it told us the opposite, because even now, after the events of the past few months, more than 40% of Democratic Party voters are blind, deaf, and dumb, and see nothing wrong with their party’s actions.

We will unfortunately not know whether Democrats are truly rejecting their party until after election day. Based their voting track record for decades, it is likely they will not, and that will signal a tragic future for our nation.

I suspect that a great deal of the dissatisfaction Democrat voters have had with the Democrat Party/Democrat leadership comes in one of two forms:

    1. Democrat voters believing their party is not radical enough.

    OR

    2. Democrat voters believing their party has moved too far toward socialism/Marxism.

There does seem to be a woman brutalizing Hitlerian like character control freak involved in the 2024 presidential election, and his name appears to be DOUG. That is if being insecure and slapping women around and being a control freak is a quality and characteristic of Hitlerian / Nazi behavior.

Today’s Democrat loyalists would seem to be facing the same kind of dilemma that many communist sympathizers encountered after Stalin was officially denounced by Khrushchev in 1956. https://www.historytoday.com/archive/months-past/stalin-denounced-nikita-khrushchev

While some did go on to disavow the Communist Party and its methods*, others embraced elaborate rationalizations to remain within the communist fold, and they could never admit that any mistakes had been made. Sadly, as Robert observes, many Democrats are so besotted with the progressive Kool-Aid that they will remain staunch supporters of this ideology “no matter how foolish, corrupt, racist, and oppressive its policies [might be shown to] have been.”

*Cf, The God That Failed, by Arthur Koestler, et al. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_God_that_Failed

The problem is, lacking a contemporary Khrushchev within the current Democrat establishment, who will identify the mounting problems within this revolutionary suicide cult and propose rational alternatives?

Democratic party sycophants are no different than the brainwashed populations of Japan and Germany in 1945. Their major cities were burned and radioactively glowing rubble piles with millions of their fellow citizens destroyed and suffering, and yet they still—they STILL— mostly supported their failed regimes.
It is an inexplicably strange cognitive dissonance, detachment from reality and mass psychosis.

Not sure the defeated Germans held onto the past quite as ferociously as the Japanese. My GI father “drew the short straw” and had to remain as an occupier in defeated Germany.

Actually, he had divined a secret… the “lucky” GIs who got to go home didn’t find out until too late that they were actually going to Japan, then still fighting fanatically! Fortunately, Harry Truman wielded the atomic bomb and saved them.

But anyway, my Dad grew to appreciate a strange reality: that the European theater of the war was one of the fairest wars ever! Seems it soon became obvious to even the most thickheaded GIs of the occupation that virtually every Nazi had been killed or were awaiting trial, and the only Germans left were, to a man and woman, ardent anti-Nazis and had been so all along! Amazing, no?!

Before Glenn kicked me off Instapundit, I told anyone who would listen that they stole 2020 on the order of 22 million ballots across all 57 states.

If I were you, I’d steel myself now for serious disappointment and anger, because they WILL do it again. Why not? We did nothing about it last time. And little if anything has been done to fix the ‘problems’ from last time.

  • The Democrat party has installed many levels of weakness and manipulation in or American election system and that is established through evidence and not speculation.

Do I doubt that the WEF would have some involvement in perverting the results of our elections? NO.

By their own words and stated agenda I do not doubt that one second.

In passing, I note that the office of the Georgia Secretary of State has already declared that, yes, Comrade, there is NO voter fraud in Georgia (nor can there *be* any — we have spoken), just like in 2020 when thousands of “misplaced” ballots appeared overnight.

Based on all of this, what happens after the evening of November 5th ought to be “interesting,” to say the least. (Do you think that the Democrats are simply going to concede and go home?)

    More Georgia Election News —

This, from James Howard Kunstler’s column today:

“By another odd coincidence, an outfit called the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association International (AFCEA) has scheduled an ‘exercise simulating a cyber-attack on critical infrastructure’ for November 5 in Atlanta, Georgia. That’s election day. In a big swing state. Whose idea was that? Is there already not enough that might go wrong that some treasonous moron had to kick the risk of fiasco up another notch? Or might it be cover for another Three Card Monte caper with the Georgia votes?”

So, what should Americans do now, that the anti-Nazi Germans didn’t do, to prevent our own country from being taken over by anti-American forces and turning us into a similar tyranny? Voting is not the solution. It didn’t work for the Germans, and it is how we ended up this close to their fate.

What should the Germans have done to prevent the Nazis from destroying their country? What should they have done to prevent a terrible world war? How do we Americans learn from Germany and their Nazi Party and what do we do to prevent repeating their fate?

If Santayana warned us of anything, this is what he warned us about. We remember the Nazis, but how do we avoid repeating their tyranny?

We have learned that Marxism fails wherever and whenever it is applied, so how do we prevent it from continuing to be applied to us?

  • Edward asked, “So, what should Americans do now, that the anti-Nazi Germans didn’t do, to prevent our own country from being taken over by anti-American forces and turning us into a similar tyranny?” and then insists “voting is not answer.”

Hogwash. You are so defeatist. The high numbers coming in from across the board from rural Republican districts, outpacing inner cities held by Democrats, tell us that a concerted effort vote came make a different.

Either way, whining like you do that nothing to proprose to fix the situation and routinely rejecting any suggestions put forth, including voting, is so useless, and guarantees these Nazis will take over. I guess that’s what you really want.

    Robert,
The problem is that even under a Trump administration, marxism and tyranny continue to win. We saw that last time, and there is no reason to believe that government will be the solution under another Trump administration.

The whole reason to ask what to do differently is because I have no solutions. I am begging you and others to think with me to find what could have worked a century ago and what could work now. I started asking this question a year ago, and no one has come up with any answers. https://behindtheblack.com/behind-the-black/points-of-information/todays-blacklisted-american-innocent-man-sentenced-one-year-in-prison-for-appearing-as-george-washington-in-the-capitol-on-january-6/#comment-1427513

The Germans accidentally fell into the tyranny trap, but we see it coming, so how do we avoid it?

If I am whiney about this situation, then you are equally whiney about my attempts to prompt thoughtful solutions to our looming problem. In fact, if I am whiney, then your Blacklisted American series is worse. That series presents no solution and asks for no suggested solution.

For America’s sake, stop complaining that I don’t think that government is the solution. It is not. It is the problem. Government will not heal itself no matter who is president. Unlike George Washington, today’s people do not go into government to serve We the People but go there to control We the People. They want the power. They think that they are the best ones to choose for us, because they think we choose wrong, every single time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkZcEJBcLmU#t=89 (15 seconds: “The Giver”)

We the People must save ourselves. No one will do it for us. Not even Trump. Maybe he can lead an effort, but he has presented no solutions, either. Your Pushback series has shown us that people do not like the direction that we are headed. We need a solution outside of government, because they are definitely not going to help us.

Elections are not going to solve the problem, because they feed and rationalize the problem. Depending upon government to solve the problem is wrong, because government is the problem. Reagan knew that and warned us. He even knew the nine most terrifying words. Paraphrasing and correcting for accuracy: they’re from the government, so they’re not here to help.

Now quit whining, and think about what it would have taken for Germans to save themselves, a century ago. From this we may be able to figure out how to apply it to save ourselves.

I want to know who knew and when they suspected big Joes dementia.
I want to know why the doctor never reported it (And still has not) and to who does he report a failing medical condition of the president to.
Officially the democratic party has nothing to do with the line of succession. So they do not get to say who replaces the President in office. If he can not serve the next term why is he still competent to be president?
Why is Kamala not competent enough to be appointed the replacement President?

Who has been running the nation for the last several years?
I see the first lady is standing in for Joe at government meetings now. How could that be legal?

This administration proves that our nation has been taken over by bureaucrats who we never get a chance to vote on in any way.

They guide the pen in anonymity, they make the policies with no consequences. I do not like that one bit.

Jeff Bezos gets most of his money from government contracts… I bet he’s wondering right now if that’s in jeopardy? Would a trump administration do to him what the government is doing to musk right now?

“A growing number of current and former journalists at The Washington Post are criticizing the legacy newspaper after owner Jeff Bezos decided to withhold a planned editorial endorsement for president for the first time in 36 years.”
